It's another coooold , which fits with the frigid, icy, and artic conditions most people think of when they think about penguins, but African penguins are different!! 🐧

African penguins can be found in large colonies along the rocky coast of southwestern Africa from Namibia to Port Elizabeth, and many of the surrounding islands. You won't see any of these penguins sliding down ice mountains 😉

The African Black-footed penguin populations have been on the decline, but through zoological conservation, awareness, and the organization on the ground in South Africa, through the Dyer Island Conservation Trust, these little guys are being protected and making a comeback.

With your support we will continue to raise awareness about the struggles of the African penguin and reverse its population decline. Join us at NOGAWILD to meet and learn about this amazing species on a Penguin Experience or join us for Penguin GOGA this Saturday! A portion of all proceeds from Penguin Experiences go directly to African penguin and seabird conservation.

Day 3 snowmageddon ! Sunshine and capy love to brighten everyone's day ! Thankyou to everyone who worked tirelessly during these last 2 days! Our crew is amazing the stay in emergency team continued to do checks throughout the night! Capyella is missing her guest attention and waiting for you all to visit again!

NOGAWILD will remain closed tomorrow, Saturday January 11th, due to the winter storm. We are still dealing with some of the lingering effects of the storm and want to make sure everyone stays safe!

From the Director
Day one of snowmageddon 2025.
Heat and generators in place, waters thawed and thawed again. animals fed and tucked in.

Enjoy some of the fun photos we took today as we go into night shift to watch for falling trees , power issues , displaced animals and tempature concerns .

Our emergency team took a break to enjoy some sledding and bonding since we will all be together all night long .
Want to encourage team bonding and building ? Try spending the night together during a storm where everyone's goal is the same to ensure the animals are well taken care of , safe and warm.
