If you like your cats big and sassy, we might have someone for you! 😼

Meet Yuzu, another kitty hanging out at the APL until her friends at Affogato Cat Cafe are back from vacation. Yuzu is 4-year-old quirky cutie. She likes hanging out where the action is, but from a distance where she can observe and be comfy. Yuzu has a playful side and will show you when the mood strikes. At 12 pounds, she’s an adorable little loaf who lives life on her own terms. She will accept gentle head scratches but will let you know when she’s over it. Once she knows you, she will be your couch buddy. You will have fun getting to know all of Yuzu’s layers!

If you’re looking for a feline friend to keep you smiling (and maybe a little on your toes), you have to come into the APL to meet Yuzu!

You may recognize Puppers – he’s very good at giving puppy kisses! 😘

Meet Puppers, a 9-year-old bundle of joy. He’s a seasoned sweetheart with a beautifully brindled coat. You wouldn’t guess he’s an older guy by his playful spirit! Puppers is very curious and enjoys exploring on walks. He’s great with new people and is noted to have done well with children, cats, and other dogs.

Puppers adores giving hugs and kisses and will happily shower you with love whenever you need it. Whether you're lounging on the couch or going for a walk, Puppers is always by your side, ready to make every moment special. His experience with people should make an easier transition into a new home. He’s very smart, well-mannered, and would be a wonderful family dog.

And, don’t forget, the best snuggles come from dogs who’ve had years to perfect them! Don’t wait to meet Puppers, he might just be your perfect match.

Paper is being fostered with love and is ready to steal your heart on this !

Meet Paper, a 2-year-old cutie pie who is the perfect combination of fun and snuggles. She’s currently in a foster home but would like to find her new family! Here is a bit more about this sweetheart:

- House trained ✅ (because accidents are so last year)
- Crate comfy (her chill zone is on point)
- Car rides? She usually snoozes through them!
- Walks? Paper is AMAZING on leash.
- Loves everyone including dogs, people, and kids!
- Cats? Cool! (Sometimes, she just gets a little too excited to say hi)
- Certified Cuddle Expert! Couch time is her favorite time.

🚨We need your help! Lula is pretty close to paw-fect and we can prove it.

Lula just got back from a holiday vacation with her amazing foster family. They had nothing but wonderful things to say about her stay, we don’t even know where to start! She had a blast welcoming their seven guests on Christmas day and was friendly with everyone. Lula’s other adventures included lots of car rides (she loved them), a trip to Home Depot, and a 2.5 mile hike followed by a pup cup!

Not only is Lula an incredible sidekick, she has the best personality to match. She’s very chill and loves her sleep. Lula walks like a champ on leash, is house/crate trained, and may do well with other dogs and kids. She’s extremely friendly and enjoys cuddling up next to you while you hang out on the couch. She is the perfect mix of happy, calm, and gentle. Lula is about 7-years-old and will surely bring lots of joy and smiles to a new home.

Fluff level: 1,000. Mood: mysterious. 🐾🖤

Meet Denali, a gorgeous 6-year-old kitty with stunning green eyes and the softest fur. He’s a little shy with people at first but with some patience, will show that he will tolerate you. Once he’s comfortable, he may even let you know he likes you! Denali is the king of side-eye, a fan of quiet moments, and is okay with head pets (on his terms, of course). He has been living with other cats and has done well. With Denali in your home, you will always have something pretty to look at and a calm companion.

Happy New Year from all of us (two-legged and four-legged) at the Cleveland APL!

As we welcome 2024, we’re looking forward to another year of helping animals, like adoptable Clay here, in need – but we can’t do it without you. If you would like to kick off the year making a difference, consider donating wish list items!

What we need most right now:
-Dry and wet dog and cat food
-Hard dog chews (nylabones, dental sticks)
-Slow feeders for dogs

Bubba’s New Year’s Resolution is find the purr-fect lap to call home! 🤗🐱

Meet Bubba, a dapper 8-year-old gent who is hanging out with us at the APL until his friends at Affogato Cat Cafe return from vacation. We don’t know how this googly-eyed cutie is still here! Once Bubba knows you, he wants to cuddle all of the time. His favorite thing to do is be your lap warmer or snuggle up on your chest. Bubba may have a grumpy cat face when you first meet him but don’t let him fool you, he’s a sweetie at heart. All he wants is to be cozy and give love!

If you’re ready to ring in 2025 with a new furry and extremely handsome friend, you have to come in to meet Bubba! You can find him in our Catio in the Adoptions Lobby.

Spotted: the cutest brindled babe in town! 😍

Meet Abigal, a 10-month-old pretty Pittie with soulful eyes and a tender heart. She went on our last pack walk and wanted to make sure everyone saw her cute sweater! Abigal did a wonderful job walking on leash and loved taking in all the sights. She’s a total sweetie pie.

Abigal was brought in by our H.I. team after being abandoned which may be why is on the shy side at first. While she's still building her confidence in new situations, Abigal is a quick learner who thrives with kindness, encouragement and some treats! She’d do best in a home that understands she needs some patience to be comfortable and blossom at her own pace where her darling personality can truly shine. She did live with other dogs and may welcome a canine brother or sister. Abigal is very friendly and you can tell she will thrive as someone’s loyal and loving sidekick.

Doesn’t Nala look great in a home? She could be your snuggle buddy if you adopt her! 🥰

Nala is a 6-year-old Mastiff mix with a heart of gold. She’s currently in a foster home and is just the sweetest pup! Nala loves to follow you around the house and will keep you company whenever you’re home. She is super cuddly and enjoys getting cozy on the couch, she has no trouble getting comfy quick!

Another thing about Nala is she loves everyone including cats, dogs, and kids. She has done great with her foster’s resident dogs and loves to run in the yard with them. Nala likes to play for a little followed up by a nice nap. She’s house-trained and very well-mannered in the home and on walks. Nala is so incredibly lovable, she just needs someone to give her a chance! She’s been here since February and we don’t know why because she has proven she will be a fantastic family member.

Good boy energy = 10/10 unmatched! 🙌

We have two things to celebrate – our volunteer, Pam, who hiked the Skyline Overlook trail with an APL dog for the 60th time and Max who helped her reach this milestone! Max was the perfect guy to take up to the top and did it with a smile on his face the whole time. You would never guess handsome Max is 8-years-old with how much pep is in his step!

Max has been described as an A+ cuddle bug and will take any chance he has to snuggle you. He is a huge fan of belly rubs and loves everyone he meets, including children. Max loves to explore his surroundings and gets comfortable pretty quick especially if treats are involved. Not only is he incredibly handsome, he’s very gentle and easy-going in every situation. Max spent some time in foster where he proved to be the perfectly well behaved gentleman we know him to be!

Somehow, Max has been waiting at the APL for 8 months. Will you help him finally find the cozy home and snuggle partner he deserves?

Spencer is a sweet and laid-back guy who enjoys cozy blankets, gentle pets, and occasional playtime with his favorite toys. He’s already a pro at being your best friend and will happily greet you with soft purrs and a curious gaze.

Happy holidays from all of us at the Cleveland Animal Protective League! ✨💜

This season, we're filled with gratitude for all of the support that has made a tremendous impact on the lives of animals in need, offering healing and hope to those who need it most.

And, a special thank you to our staff and volunteers for the love and care they bring to every animal who comes to the APL. It’s moments like this that remind us of the magic that happens when kindness meets wagging tails.

As we celebrate the holiday season, we wish you and your loved ones (furry friends included) a joyful and peaceful time!

She’s making a list, checking it twice, she’s gonna find out that Luna is nice 🎶🤶

Luna is, in fact, on the nice list this year and the only gift she’s asked for is a loving home! She’s been at the shelter for 7 months too long. This spunky and sweet 8-year-old girl had a magical time on her last field trip where she met the famous, Mrs. Claus, at City Goods! With the help of a squeaky toy and some treats, Luna’s joyful personality and big smile shined for all to see.

One thing about Luna is she loves to be on the go! She’s been on a bunch of volunteer field trips and is ready for whatever comes her way. Whether it’s hitting a hiking trail or other local shops like Luca's Barkery, she’s just the best! Luna is totally lovable and enjoys all the pets and attention. Age is just a number and you will see that when her playful and wiggly side comes out. With Luna, you get the best of both worlds – a pup who loves adventure and snuggles!

Torri is a special kitty in need of a special home. 🐱💕

Meet Torri, a 3-year-old stunning tortoiseshell lady with a heart as unique as her colorful coat. She has a gentle soul, loves cozy snuggles, and is always up for a quiet moment by your side. Torri is a volunteer favorite and is hoping she finds her new family to spend the holidays with.

Torri has feline leukemia virus (FeLV), which means she needs to be an only cat or live with other FeLV-positive cats. FeLV is a virus that weaken’s the cat’s immune system, making it easier for them to contract other illnesses. This chronic illness is not contagious to other animal species or humans. While her condition may shorten her lifespan, it doesn’t dampen her spirit or capacity to love! With regular vet checkups and TLC, FeLV kitties have the opportunity to live fulfilling lives.
