There’s a new face behind the magic at Creekside! Please help us welcome Macie W., Vet Assistant!

Years of Experience: 2

Macie grew up in Etowah, TN and graduated from Chattanooga State in 2022 with an associate’s degree in applied science for Veterinary Technology. Animals are a big part of her life, and when not working in Veterinary Medicine, she spends time with her cat Stella and her dog Percy. She loves to bake (and we’re excited to reap the benefit of that occasionally!), hike, camp, and spend time with friends and friends. She loves all music, with Stevie Nicks being one of her all-time favorites.

When asked “Why Vet Med?” She said: Pets are one of the biggest parts of our lives, being able to care for them is incredibly rewarding. Working in veterinary medicine allows me to make a difference in the lives of animals and the people who care for them.

When asked “Why Creekside?” She said: the quality of care everyone at Creekside provides is amazing. It is a calm and welcoming environment for patients, owners, and the staff.

Macie – we know you are going to great as a member of this team! Thank you for joining us!

Once a month we shut down the hospital for 1 hour and dedicate ourselves to learning more so we can take the best care of your pets 🐶🐱🐰

This month we hosted Ashley Wheeler, LVMT, CCRP from as she taught us more about what we can do with our Laser to alleviate pain in your pets! 🥽

Don’t be surprised if you hear us recommending it for your pets bad ear infections! 👂

We don’t have to have a laser, it’s not a requirement for a vet hospital. But it’s a way we can provide the best care, so we have it 🏥

Thank you!! And thank you for giving Cora a chance! She’s a lucky pup 🐶

This is why Creekside Cares Alliance adopts out kittens in pairs!

But be aware: getting another adult cat for an adult cat is generally NOT recommended!

Get 2 kittens at once!

Anderson County Animal Shelter dropped some helpful knowledge this morning… info on Single Kitten Syndrome! Yes - it’s actually a thing! Often potential adopters chuckle when we suggest getting a pair of kittens, but kittens are social creatures and do better with a buddy. We’d love to help you find TWO felines this weekend at our adoption events at the Petsmart on Morrell Road! Come see us TODAY until 5pm or tomorrow from 12-5. Let’s find your next feline best friends!

Feral Feline Friends of East Tennessee is a 501(c)3 founded in 2004 to help end the overpopulation of cats in the Knoxville, TN area and surrounding counties through Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR), public education, and empowering the community to care for outside cats. FFF is funded solely from donations, adoption fees, and grants. 100% off those monies goes to helping felines in TN. Adoption fees are $125 for kittens, $100 for cats over a year old, and two felines for $200 which includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, deworming, microchip, and FIV/FeLV testing. 🚨SCAM ALERT!
⚠️Scammer Posing As Local Shelters Victimizing Lost Pet Owners⚠️

Both the Humane Educational Society and McKamey Animal Center have received reports of a scam caller posing as staff demanding credit card information.

Identifying himself as "Daniel Taylor" the caller claimed to be in possession of an
injured lost pet, withholding emergency care until a credit card number was
provided. Luckily, the animal’s owner declined to give out their financial
information. The caller has been reported to local authorities.

"Neither HES nor MAC will ever ask for direct payment up front for care. Animals
receive emergency care immediately. If a pet has a known owner, we will put the
emergency clinic directly in touch with the owner," says Rebecca Bryan, Executive
Director of HES. "It's unconscionable to take advantage of someone desperate to get
their pet home."

HES recommends calling the emergency line 423-624-5302 and following the prompts for an animal emergency or coming to the shelter during business hours if a suspicious call is received. We also recommend contacting local authorities immediately if you receive a call you suspect of being a scam.

Shelters will never call from a private number. If a vet office or specific animal
shelter is mentioned, search online for the clinic phone number and call directly.

KEEP IN MIND: Temporary phone numbers can be obtained and caller ID will display any name the scammer enters.

WE HAVE A SOLUTION TO YOUR RODENT ISSUE!
Our barn cats will keep your barn, homestead, warehouse, workshop or greenhouse rodent-free in exchange for food and a home.
🐾WHAT KIND OF CATS QUALIFY AS A BARN CAT? 🐾
These could be cats that are poorly socialized to people or cats that simply prefer the company of other cats instead of people. It could be cats that have never adjusted to indoor life after being outside their entire lives.

Our Barn Cat program primarily saves at-risk community cats (i.e.: feral). To save these misunderstood felines, we are looking for barns, warehouses, workshops, greenhouses, homesteads and anyone that has a little land. We currently have about 10 cats waiting for the chance to impress you with their natural skills and ability!

Apply for a pair (or more) of barn cats – we promise you won’t be sorry!

Sarah C. is new to our team but we already have a bunch of pictures of her in the exam room with our patients. The Doggos L-O-V-E her and often sit in the corner and stare up at her, offer paw, and ask for (demand) belly rubs. 🐶

This is Nova, a certified Good Girl - visiting us with her people who own in Cleveland! 💫

Have you checked them out? Treats, snacks, toys, grooming and gifts for humans too! Definitely the place to take your dog for their birthday, gotcha day, or just on any given day 😎

There are currently 67,019 puppies for sale on Puppies.com with more than 15,000 active breeder profiles. Most of those puppies are coming from breeders in Texas, California, Florida, Missouri and Kansas.

Our team is currently doing an audit of all of the breeders who sell through Puppies.com to determine if they hold the proper licensing for their state or federally so we can file all of the complaints. We will share a short list of some of the more concerning facilities that sell through this site as well. While that massive project will take time, we will continue to share pieces of information that we learn with you all!

Please do your part in helping us put an end to the cruel puppy mill industry by reminding your friends, family and coworkers that it is easier to find a puppy mill online than it is a responsible breeder. Do your research before you buy, read the inspection reports, read the reviews, visit the parent dogs in person and don't forget to reach out to your favorite researchers at Bailing Out Benji with any questions or concerns! Don't forget that there are amazing animals waiting for you at your local rescue or shelter too- including many purebred and made-up mixed breeds!

If you are able to support our work, please consider making a donation! We are a small organization that isn't afraid to take on big projects like this, if it means we can discover and put an end to inhumane breeding operations.

Please donate here:

Cooper needed to be seen by a vet but life is chaotic and made it hard for his people to get a regularly scheduled appointment. 📆

He saw us for a day admission appointment instead! Cooper is a very good, very happy boy 💙

His favorite part about the visit was definitely the ear scratches and the snacks! 🐶

Do What’s Right (for the patient & family)

I’d wanted to be a Veterinarian since I was a little girl. Always an animal lover that liked to learn & study! I started in the industry as a kennel assistant as a teenager. A couple wonderful vets and technicians helped me learn so much at a young age.

Now, as a Vet, I fully understand that pets are family. I strive to take the best possible care of your pets and always have their best interest in mind. I’m always thinking about low stress handling, well rounded pain control, anesthesia safety, education for owners, and making your pet happy and healthy for as long as possible.

When I’m not working with animals, you’ll find me volunteering with them or enjoying the outdoors with them. I founded and direct a 501(c)3 organization called Erie Puppy Mill Awareness and will always continue to try to eliminate the suffering that dogs in puppy mills endure. You’ll also find me advocating for One Health (the connection between human, planet, and animal health) often.

If you want top quality primary care for your pet, and it sounds like we may get along, don’t hesitate to make an appointment! You can also find me on other socials @DrRadfordToTheRescue
