It was great seeing the new Lakewood Animal Shelter today! It’s a beautiful space and we’re excited to see how much it helps the animals in Lakewood. The City of Lakewood and the Division of Animal Control have put so much hard work into this huge project!

CCLAS is so excited to see the new shelter and some of us are planning to attend the open house/ribbon cutting next Thursday! We hope to see more members of the Lakewood community there! 🎉 🐶 🐱

The City of Lakewood and the Division of Animal Control will host an open house and ribbon cutting at the new Animal Shelter (12910 Berea Rd.) on Thursday, October 23 from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM. Come celebrate the grand opening and take a tour of the new facility! No animals will be on-site/permitted at the event.

Congratulations to our Spooky Pooch Parade raffle winner Shaina and her dog Lola! 👻 They were ticket number 211 and were the lucky winners from yesterday. Shaina attends the Spooky Pooch Parade every year and says she’s never won anything like this before! We’re so excited for her and Lola! We hope Lola has a great time with all her new toys and treats!

Thanks to everybody who attended this year’s Spooky Pooch Parade and for everyone who bought tickets to our raffle basket. All funds will go towards helping the homeless cats and dogs in Lakewood and the animals at the Lakewood Animal Shelter!

Meet Kat Kardashian! This beautiful, 6-year-old girl has been patiently waiting at the Lakewood Animal Shelter for over 60 days now.

Kat is a sweet, affectionate cat who loves a good belly rub and will purr to let you know how happy she is.

This little lady has some seasonal allergies, which may require ongoing medication to manage. But a little medicine is a small price to pay for the endless love you'll get from her!

Kash is STILL looking for his forever home. This handsome 6-year-old boy has been at the Lakewood Animal Shelter for over 60 days now. He has a lot of love to give and deserves to be loved in return! Kash’s favorite thing in the world is his orange ball, which he'll be sure to bring with him to his new home.

Kash is an affectionate guy who loves ear scratches and quiet moments with people. He has a lot of love to give and deserves to spend the rest of his life with a family that will give him a second chance. Highly Requested Update on Our Sweet Senior Boy 💛🐾

Yesterday, we welcomed a very special geriatric cat into our care. He was immediately taken to the vet, where he received much-needed medical attention, including medication and treatment for an infection. He is severely emaciated and clearly has been through a lot—but we’re already seeing signs of hope.

Today, we’re happy to share that he has perked up! His resilience is truly heartwarming, and we’re optimistic about his recovery.

We are currently in the midst of a 72-hour hold to allow time for a possible owner to come forward. After that, we will be looking for a compassionate, experienced long-term foster to help him continue his rehabilitation in a loving home environment.
