Lick mats aren't just for dogs. Aioli loved licking her Churu treat off a lick mat during her appointment. Lick mats help slow a pet's eating, occupying them for longer while engaging their brain as they try to lick up every last bit.

For the last day of Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, we're turning the spotlight onto the Animal Protective Foundation. Our assistant, Jenna, adopted this gorgeous girl, Valerie, from the APF. Jenna's sister adopted Valerie's sister, Lainey, at the same time. Now, both puppies are in happy forever homes and play together constantly.

Today's Animal Shelter Appreciation Week post highlights the SPCA of Upstate New York. Cleo, a Collie mix, was adopted by our assistant, Steph, at twelve weeks old from the SPCA in Queensbury, NY. She is now eight years old and thriving in her forever home with three doggie siblings. The SPCA focuses primarily on rescuing animals that are victims of neglect and abuse. Today, we are highlighting North Shore Animal League as part of National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week. North Shore is the world's largest and longest running no-kill animal shelter. These adorable kittens are Arlo and Ramsey. Their mother was found while pregnant and cared for by the shelter. These two boys are a bonded pair and were adopted at about seven weeks old by our technician, Bri.

Today's animal shelter appreciation post focuses on Out of the Pits. This rescue strives to show the true nature of Pit Bulls as smart, loving, hardworking dogs. Our technician, Abby, adopted Jethro and Ethel from this rescue. Ethel thinks Jethro makes the most comfortable chair for looking out the window. Ethel, Jethro, and their brother, Andy, recently welcomed their new human sister to the world and are the best furry siblings she could ask for.

This week is National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week. Today, we're highlighting Mountain Rottie Rescue by sharing Mandee's story. Mandee is a two-year-old American Fox Hound/Australian Cattledog mix who came to the rescue from Kentucky. She was adopted by one of our technician students, Emma, and is now living her best life with her two feline sisters.
