We would love to introduce you to Betty. She’s a beautiful, sweet, black lab mix that tested positive for heartworm. She was adopted from a rescue, but didn’t test positive until later. Heartworm is a painful and potentially fatal disease that causes damage to the heart, lungs and arteries. This disease can affect quality of life even after the parasites are gone. Treatment is painful, and costly. Heartworm is spread through mosquitoes and can be prevented by using heartworm prevention year round, annual heartworm testing and mosquito control. Betty went through her third and final treatment and will be tested in a couple of weeks to see if she is clear. We cannot stress enough the importance of keeping them on heartworm prevention year round. Our thoughts and prayers are with Betty and her sweet Mama!!! ♥️🐾♥️

I would like to take a moment and express my sincere appreciation for Diana Rascano and wish her many years of nothing but the best as she enters into her 2nd, very well deserved retirement.

We met in 2009 while I was working in Veterinary medicine and operating a small animal adoption program at a local Vet Hospital. Diana was a client, she adopted a cat "Luigi", from me and that's where our relationship started to bloom.

It wasn't long after we put our heads and hearts together and developed a plan to fulfill the current mission of 4 paws 1 heart. With her many contacts, her leadership and business background, and my animal medical experience, she put together a passonate board of volunteers needed to make it happen.

She has since given years of profound dedication and efforts into building 4 paws 1 heart into the incredible organization it is today. It's been a full-time commitment consisting of sacrifices and endless hours into the operations.

Diana has been a friend, a mentor, and like a 2nd mom to me. We have shared laughs and tears, lectures and lessons, mostly when I was doing something wrong l o l, but I had a lot of growing up to do over the years and she helped shape me into the person I am today.

The dream we spoke of in 2010 became a reality. 4 paws 1 heart is a critical resource that has made an impact and a difference for stray animals in several communities. The animals who are helped and eventually adopted bring friendship, companionship, loyalty, and life into the hearts of so many families.

Thank you, Diana, for entrusting me to take on a new roll as president of the organization and as I enter this new chapter, please know that I will do my best to make you proud. Now is your time to enjoy yourself, your family, and be so proud of what you have accomplished.
