This is the way we start every session. We do this to make sure we have control of their feet and their minds. This is Whisper, a 3 year old, and we are putting some miles on her for a friend. What a great minded 3yr old she is! Austin is gonna have some fun this week!
Booger and Dixie.
I’ll be the first to admit I’m not the best rider and often we blame the horse. When another person gets on your horse and makes her look like a superstar you start to realize how far you have yet to go. I concentrate on getting a little better every time I swing a leg over. Make sure you come out this weekend and let Booger Brown help you get the most out of you so you can get the most out of your horse!!
Another good ride for Sully across the pasture. He didn’t want to come back in the gate because his girlfriend Pumpkin was out there. Before you haters accuse us of beating a horse, we use soft cotton reins on these young ones so we can put pressure on them if we have to. He’s really getting the idea of going in a straight line and once we get him stopping and backing up good he’ll be ready to go home.
Sully’s first ride.
Sully’s first ride was uneventful to say the least. Y’all are gonna love riding him when he gets home. He’s super calm and is gonna be great!
Some days you wonder if the horse is actually getting. Then there’s times like this that you know they are.

Sure is good to see this big boy running and enjoying it! Just about 6 years ago Bugsy had a blown stifle and underwent a big surgery to repair it. He’s not the 15 second horse he once was, only because we won’t let Austin turn him loose and push him, but he’s a super solid, automatic 4D horse all day long. He’s much calmer and relaxed now that he’s back running. If you think a horse doesn’t enjoy what they are bred to do, you’re mistaken. Austin is such a good pilot too. He’s really softened up his hands and pretty much stays out of the horse’s way. Super proud of both of them!
We’re all capable of learning something new and when I learn something new we share it with anyone and everyone that wants to learn it! We had a fantastic clinic this weekend with Extreme Wylene of Wild West Horsemanship! Austin is working on his dismounts.
Austin and Momma
Austin and Momma’s first run away from our home arena. It wasn’t fast but it was smooth. These two are awesome together.

Wow! An unplanned first ride on Pumpkin. I knew she was going to be easy to start but she rode off like she’s been doing it for years. This a prime example of what a good foundation does for you. We’ve been messing with her and ground working her since we brought her home just shy of three years ago. She’s not quite 3 yet so she’s got lots of good years ahead of her.
Peanuts First Ride With Us
We took in a couple of horses to train on. Peanut and Bella are exceptional horses with great bloodlines. Peanut is a great granddaughter of Peppy San Badger and Doc Bar and a granddaughter of Pepto Boonsmal and Bella is a great granddaughter of Peppy San and Doc Bar. Both are super smart and willing and are going to make great rides!
