A clients horse had a serious accident at their barn and it brought to mind something we don’t ever think about until you need it. We have a plastic bin that has all of our emergency supplies in it that can be stored and always have on hand the the rest.
Here’s a list of what we keep around:
Apple cider vinegar to clean wounds
Crushed black pepper to put on fresh wounds to stop bleeding.
Baby diapers to use to cover wounds and abscesses on the legs and hooves
Cotton gauze
Vet wrap
Duct tape
Saline solution to flush eyes
Bute
Underwood’s wound solution
Baking soda
Corona wound cream
Antiseptic spray
Silver spray

You never know what’s gonna happen so always be prepared. As we all know a horse can hurt themselves in a padded room.

Hey y’all this is. I want to brag on one of our sponsors for WORC, 100X Equine. We have a client horse with some nerve damage that affects the left side of her face. Our chiropractor suggested Low Level Laser Treatment as a good option along with a couple of other things. I researched all of the brands available to a non professional and all of the reviews pointed to the Equilaser from 100X. I ordered it at about 1:30 on Wednesday afternoon, it was shipped within just an hour or so, and it arrived before noon on Thursday. I would have been thrilled to get it in 3 days but never expected to get it that fast with free shipping. You can tell a lot about a company by how they take care of their customers and as far as I’m concerned they have one of the best customer service I’ve ever seen. Thank you 100X Equine!!

Always get your horses checked out to make sure they are ready to start under saddle. Waiting until they’re ready may be hard but it can add years to their life.

Don’t underestimate the importance of your horses teeth care! If you haven’t had your horses teeth looked at and maintained by a professional, now’s the time before show season gets into full swing!

We’d like to thank 100X Equine for their support!

We’ll have some Gut-X as a prize for a winning team! Gut-X is a gut supplement that targets ulcerated tissue, supports good gut health, and boosts immune response.

Sometimes we take for granted that everyone knows the simple things. I can remember when I first started using rope halters that I tied them every way possible but the right way. After cutting a few of them off because I couldn’t get them untied I finally figured it out. Let us know if you need help with anything from tying halters to putting a stop on your horse. We’re here to help.

We had a load yesterday for lessons! It was a little chilly but figured we better get some in before the really cold weather gets here. We worked the flag, worked on turnbacks, and overall horsemanship. Thank y’all for trusting us with your horses and training.

Let us help you get in the know.

I just had to jump on here and tell you a quick story. Anyone that knows me knows I harp on getting your horse calm and cool in the ground. It’s been cold and snowy here which is way early for this part of the state. We blanketed everyone before it snowed and leaving them on until this afternoon. We went out to feed this morning and Dixie was standing at the round bale just looking up towards me. Then I noticed her blanket had slid around and it was tangled around her back left leg, not tight just around it to a point she could walk normally. She could turn around but not walk. She tossed her head as to say “get your butt down here and help me”. I went down and untangled her and she trotted off towards her stall to eat. Had this happened to any of the young horses they would have had a meltdown. Groundwork your horses and desensitize them to ropes around their legs so when they get tangled in something they won’t hurt themselves. If you need help with this let me know.

While it’s very true your horse needs a good foundation, we can help with that, most of the training is you. We all have things in our horsemanship that’s holding us back. I struggle with confidence and just letting the horse do it’s job so that’s what I constantly work on. I have the understanding that my horse is way better than me so I try to let her just do her job and do my best not to get in her way. If you struggle in this area give us a shout and let’s work together to be the best rider you can be. You owe it to your equine partner.

We’ve been out and about learning and teaching! Teaching our horses and learning ourselves. We got together with the good folks from Western Oklahoma Ranch Horse Association and Hogan Equine at their cutting horse clinic and picked up some great techniques and exercises! You never stop learning! Byron is a super clinician with a different approach to teaching that really brings everything down to an easy to learn level.
