This fella earned his keep at Duck Down Retrievers today. We are a few weeks into conditioning mode in our retriever course with Maverick and he has come a long way! He loves every minute of what he does! Now time for some AC and fresh water back at our facility.

We love our little Boykin gun dogs at Duck Down Retrievers.. today Finley the pup on the left conquered her water fear by observing other Boykins who are farther advanced in our program complete water drills. Mission accomplished for the day!

Water introduction and marking skills are crucial at a young age. Daisy is off the litter we recently had. We have 1 yellow female available and 2 black females remaining. They are 12 weeks old, current on vaccines and fully AKC registered. 601-502-5849

We are making some jam up dogs here at Duck Down Retrievers… drive is EVERYTHING in a gun dog. Nothing makes me feel better about what I do then getting this all caught in the act. Remember season 4 of Dying Breed Tv is coming…. Look for some serious waterfowl chasing from Canada to Mexico this year.

Just your average Wednesday night at DuckDown. The training never stops… We take advantage of every situation!

I base all of my training accomplishments off of what I call control of a dog at distance.. this is an example of what I can do in less then 2 weeks with a dog in any of our programs. All trainers should not only be willing to show videos of but proud to show results of each and every dog they train!

A special announcement for our current and future gundog customers!

4 month old going home today from our obedience program here is a few key things we have learned.

Place training, hold conditioning, lining, and steadiness all starting to payoff for the 6 month old gun dog!

Checking in on a pup who went through our obedience program. He hangs out at the ball fields now watching his owner coach. Sometimes these guys play 2 or more games a day. This pup has stuck to the standards we taught him regardless of the situation! Get in touch with us at 601-502-5849

As some of you know bird dogs are bred for high drive, all day work in the field. This pup was no exception showing wonderful skills in our wounded game retrieval program. But I like to show how our dogs handle at the end of the program on basic day to day needs so here ya go!

This is Gunner he is 5 months old and has finished our obedience program and is 3 weeks into our waterfowl program! He has learned the hold and dead bird command, place command, back command, and today started water conditioning! Next step is steadiness and multiple marks!
