Is this you and your dog?

You move in, and they move back.

A simple gesture for a quick pet turns into a game of chase.

It’s not what you expected, you just wanted to have a moment of connection.

Instead you’re met with adversity. Another conflict in your day.

You got a dog because you wanted a daily companion that loves you unconditionally.

A companion that enhanced your life and comfort.

But it’s been an experience that’s been anything but that.

It’s been bumpy. Instead of comfort and connection, it turns into miscommunication and annoyance.

I see my clients go through this a lot. Expectations vs reality.

At least reality until I’m able to step in and provide guidance.

Often all it takes are a few simple tweaks to your interactions to allow you to find that connection together.

You and your dog can be on the same page. Consider me your dog interpreter - not just a trainer.

I help clients gain a deeper connection with their pups so you can experience that
companionship you were hoping for originally when you brought them home.

It’s such a beautiful transformation and I get to be the facilitator of that experience.

Interested in how this works? Comment or message me “pup” and I’ll elaborate on what it could look like when we work together.

Light-bulb moments that happen after even just one training session with me...

“I totally get why he’s doing that now!”

“This makes me feel so much better. I know what to do next time.”

“I wish I had hired you 5 years ago!”

Training isn’t a one-way conversation. When I work with clients, I help them see their
dogs in a new light.

We work together to find a way to enjoy their unique quirks instead of fighting against them.

We find the balance between what you thought it would be like to have a dog (even if you’ve had them before!) and what it’s truly going to be like to have THIS specific dog - and how to find JOY together.

Are these questions you’d ask?:

Will you come in and tell me NOT to let my dog in bed?

Will you tell me NOT to give my dog table scraps?

Will you tell me that I need to run my dog 1 mile a day?

These are questions I’ve received as a dog trainer and I want to put your mind at ease...

My training will be intentionally integrated into your life so that you can have the relationship you WANT with your dog.

It isn’t you vs. the dog.
It’s not a boot camp. For you OR your dog.

Our time together will enhance your and your dog’s experience together.

I want you both on the same page.
AND the same team.

Curious to know what this looks like?

Comment “enhance” and I’ll chat with you about what this would actually look like for your unique situation.

Background Leash pulling is a commonly reported problem behavior for dog owners, as a result, a variety of leash equipment types are offered to mitigate pulling force. We were particularly interested in prong collars as their inherently aversive design has made their use a subject of debate. Though....

Excited to take your dog on more adventures? Before heading out, practice these few simple skills at home to make those outings smoother and more fun for both of you!

1. Stay Close to Me
Get your dog to walk calmly by your side without pulling on their leash. Practice around the house or yard where novel distractions are rare. This will help them build the right patterns for external adventures!

2. Come!
Start your “come!” practice at home or in your yard, where distractions are minimal. A few repetitions on a regular basis with a favorite treat or toy can go a LONG way! This helps them understand that coming to you is always a good thing—essential for safety on outings!

3. Look at Me
Eye contact when a lot is happening around them can be critical to avoid unwanted confrontations. Pick a unique word or sound you know they won't be able to resist and start repetitions in your living room.

4. Sit and Chill
When you’re out and about, you’ll likely need them to wait while you... check out or say hi to a friend. So start by practicing this “waiting” skill at home!

5. Relax Time
Help your dog learn to relax and settle down at home while on a leash. This way, they’ll be able to chill out when you’re at a café or waiting somewhere.

With these skills already in your dog’s toolkit, outings will be way more fun and cooperative. Give them a try at home first, and you’ll both be ready for new adventures! Curious about how we go about teaching these skills? Comment “outings” and I’ll connect you with some next steps you could take.

Sometimes we make mistakes. Pepper is a shelter dog and is afraid of humans. When I first got her she wanted nothing to do with me. We’ve spent the week laying near each other on the couch, going for walks, and just getting into a routine. We had a couple breakthroughs with her. She finally took food from my hand. Me and Patience have been working carefully with her on this one. She warmed up to Patience and lets her pet her. And… She rolled over exposing her belly for me to rub which I did so gently and lovingly. Everything is slow and easy with her. In this video she had a major breakthrough in taking steps towards me. Unfortunately, out of habit, excitement, and not thinking, I praised her with a big ole “YES!” As you can see, that scared her and set her back. These dogs are so fragile and need specialists like me to work on these very intricate details in order to rehabilitate them. We do make mistakes sometimes. We learn more about the dog we are training in each and every session. And they learn more about us! We are forming a relationship built on trust and respect. We go at Pepper’s pace and each time I add just a little tiny bit more challenge. Just like humans, being vulnerable and uncomfortable is where we grow. Same thing for dogs.

I can’t wait to show you Pepper’s progress! I will keep you all update

Clever ways to prep your dog for guests this holiday season…

Freeze their food—this can make mealtimes last longer, giving you a more peaceful home while they’re occupied.

Ask your guests to ‘be a tree’ when your dog greets them. Standing still helps your dog acclimate to their presence more quickly and calmly.

Play classical music or white noise in the dog’s room - Want to keep your dog completely separate from your guests for ease? Consider playing some quiet classical music or white noise to minimize the sounds that they can hear and their reactions to guest sounds.

Take exploratory walks - Outdoor adventures don’t have to be a forced march.

Consider a longer leash and harness combo to let your dog explore smells at their own pace.

Getting outside for a sniff-venture can be a great way to help a dog relax before or after guests come over.

Worried about your dog’s behavior when guests arrive? Reach out to us today, and we’ll create a custom action plan to ensure a stress-free holiday season for everyone.

Massive progress can be made through small efforts throughout the day. Dog training isn’t a one-and-done experience, your dog is always learning. This is GREAT news!

You can relax in knowing what you do matters, but you can always try again tomorrow, too.

Your dog will always be learning and you can work on being more consistent as time passes and training strategies are integrated into your life and routines. Small efforts really will lead to massive progress over time so go easy on yourself and do what you can today to make progress towards your training goals.

Curious to know how this works? Message me “KEY” and I’ll show you how training can be easily integrated into your lifestyle so you and your dog can find true cohesion and companionship.

Looking for new, fun places to take your dog? Here are five dog-friendly outing ideas where you can bond with your pup while exploring together:

1. Pet-Friendly Bookstores
Some independent bookstores or national chains allow well-behaved dogs to browse with you. It’s a great way to socialize your dog in a quiet, calm environment while you pick out your next read.

2. Home Improvement Stores
Large home improvement stores like Lowe’s or Home Depot often welcome leashed dogs. It’s a fantastic environment to practice leash manners and expose your dog to new sights, smells, and sounds.

3. Pet-Friendly Cafés
Many cafés, especially those with outdoor seating, allow dogs to join you while you enjoy a coffee or snack. It’s a nice way to relax together and people-watch, all while working on your dog’s socialization in a low-key environment.

4. Outdoor Shopping Centers
Dog-friendly shopping centers are perfect for a leisurely stroll. Many stores even offer treats for your dog as you browse. This outing helps your dog adjust to busier environments while getting some exercise.

5. Dog-Friendly Breweries or Wineries
Breweries and wineries with outdoor spaces often welcome dogs. They’re usually laid-back environments where you can enjoy a drink while your dog soaks in the scenery and socializes.

Next time you’re looking for an outing with your dog, try one of these locations to enrich their day while you check off some errands or relax. It’s all about bonding and making fun memories together!
