While some humans can be heartless, some can also be saviors viaDan Cosgrove Animal Shelter 

We hear some pretty sad stories every day … people abandoning pets on dark dreary roads , leaving them in carriers on side streets , dumping them when they are so sick and need their people the most or when they are elderly and no longer wanted because they don’t fit their lifestyle when they were kittens .

Meet Mika - she is an absolutely gorgeous blue point Siamese . Mike is unfortunately a victim of being brought to a vets office to be euthanized because she’s 14 years old and she was no longer wanted .

Obviously the vet reached out to us and we stepped in to save her life .

This scenario is far more common then we would like to talk about . We get phone call after phone call about how their 13 year old dog has become incontinent and is no longer wanted or their 18 year old cat is pooping outside of the litter box and has become an inconvenience….. people literally screaming at us on the phone that this isn’t their issue and this is why animal shelters exist ( to take unwanted and burdensome animals) . It is heart wrenching and disgusting to listen to when they are so angry and hateful towards THEIRfamily pet that they committed to .

Having pets is not just about the fun puppy or kitten stages , it’s not about just enjoying them while their healthy , it’s not about only keeping them for the good times - it’s a lifetime commitment .

Sorry end of rant …

However beautiful Mika would love a forever home . She is sweet , fun to be around and just wants love . As a senior and having lived in a home for her whole life , shelter life is a bit strange for her . If you are interested in adopting please fill out an application at www.branfordanimalshelter.org

Hi I’m Woody,

I was living outside at a feral colony in New Haven where someone fed me and my other cat friends for several years but never got us any vet care and never got us fixed. I struggled for several years wondering if someone would help me and then one fine day a nice person humanely trapped me and my friends and got us all vetted. I have one cloudy eye which doesn’t bother me and I have some limited vision out of it but nothing slows me down.
I’ve been in foster care for a year now learning how to trust humans again and I’ve blossomed into a real snuggle bug.
I’m fully vetted, I am FIV+ and beautiful. I love being brushed, I love belly rubs and good food and snuggles. I love to play with catnip toys and cardboard scratchers. I get along well with other kitties and dogs are my friends too as long as they’re not too hyper and they’re respectful.
I’m looking for my forever home, could that be with you?
