UPDATE: ❤️ADOPTED ❤️Where's our Dane Lovers?!

Blue is a Male Great Dane, just over a year old. Been around kids and other dogs. Needs some training as he's a puller! Super sweet personality!

Call the shelter to schedule a meet and greet. He's with current owners but is a bit too much for them to handle.

Patches, our oldest resident, came to us when her previous owner became homeless, they loved her very much, unfortunately, where they were having to go, does not allow pets. Despite being at least 8 to 9 years old, being deaf, Patches has a LOT of love to give and life to live ❤️🐕❤️ Patches loves people and other dogs, she is however, a known cat chaser, no cats please.

Patches had a wonderful doggie day trip yesterday, one of our volunteers treated her to a spa day at Pet Supplies Plus ❤️🐕❤️ Come visit Patches tomorrow at Tractor Supply in Oak Ridge. ACAS will have adoptable fur babies from 11 to 3.

🔵🟢 Blue-green algae can look like “pea soup” scum on the water or discolored water … but it’s actually bacteria. In fact, it’s bacteria that can photosynthesize. The bacteria grow and develop into large colonies that form blooms. These blooms are often found near the shores because the wind moves them along the surface.

🤒 People become very ill when skin comes into contact with toxic blooms. And the same is also true for your dog … and it can be deadly if they lick or drink any of it.

☣️ These blooms produce toxins that can cause:
* Liver damage
* Liver failure
* Muscle tremors
* Seizures
* Paralysis

You might see symptoms in your dog in as little as 30 to 60 minutes after exposure or may take up to 12 to 24 hours to appear.

Watch for these symptoms:
* Diarrhea
* Vomiting
* Bloody diarrhea or black, tarry stool
* Pale mucous membranes (gums)
* Jaundice - pale or jaundiced gums (mucous membranes)
* Seizures, muscle tremors, muscle rigidity, or paralysis
* Disorientation
* Coma
* Excessive salivation or tearing
* Blue discoloration of the coat, skin and mucous membranes
* Difficulty breathing
If your dog's been swimming and then exhibits any of these symptoms, it's critical to take your dog to a vet as soon as possible.
