Do your research when purchasing a chihuahua. I have never had any eye issues but patella and heart condition is a real concern.

The Chihuahua is a tiny dog with a huge personality. They posses loyalty, charm, and big-dog attitude.

Are you interested in this breed? The OFA, working with the Chihuahua Club of America, recommends the following basic health screening tests for all breeding stock:
- Cardiac Exam (Basic, Advanced, or Standard Congenital Cardiac Exam)
- ACVO Eye Exam
- Patellar Luxation (Minimum age 1 year)

Dogs meeting these basic health screening requirements are issued Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) numbers. For potential puppy buyers, CHIC certification is a good indicator the breeder responsibly factors good health into their selection criteria.

Our Story

Rocky Top Hearts, Professional breeder of 20 plus years. We produce puppies capable of therapy, service work, agility, and superior companions. I have been involved with animals all my life, I am very dedicated to what I do and how I do it. My dogs are OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) and genetic health tested to produce the healthiest and sound puppies possible. I am an American Kennel Club Bred with H.E.A.R.T breeder. I compete on a regular basis, mostly in agility because it is so much fun and a little conformation. I stay educated about my breed and love to talk about my dogs!
