Now our last member or the board is Amanda Hewitt our Secretary. I have 40 years experience in engineering industries and have my Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering. I have extensive project management and proposal development experience. Over the past few years I have noticed a need in the community for more inclusion and opportunities for children. As a transplant from Ohio, I want to become involved in the community and continue to enjoy my time on the farm. I also have learned a lot about animal husbandry since working on the farm.

This has been two years in the making and we wanted to show you the entire process. This is part one. After we complete the trial I’ll post part two!

Today is International Family Day! Our family is so excited to open up the farm so that other families can enjoy the animals and their unique personalities. Scott and I moved to Clover almost 3 years ago and have been working so hard to achieve this goal. Our son is on the spectrum and since the diagnosis, we have been researching extensively about autism and different therapeutic strategies for autistic children. That's when we noticed this was needed for our community.

Stephanie Bull our Treasurer is up next!

After moving to our farm in 2020, I fell in love with growing and nurturing flowers. My husband and I have been building our flower farm business, Indigo Iris Farm, over the last four years. We love sharing our beautiful farm and friendly animals with our community so that others can reconnect with nature and learn through experiencing agriculture first hand. Our two sons attend a university model school, which is a hybrid of homeschooling and private school. We enjoy how hands-on we are with their education and have applied this love for learning to our business as well. My background is in healthcare/medical device marketing, with an emphasis on digital marketing strategy and content development. I'm excited to leverage my marketing knowledge and experience to help Happy Hooves and Feathers Farm successfully launch, and will assist with fundraising efforts, marketing, and building partnerships within the local community.

Our Vice President is Wes Love. I was born and raised here in the area. I received my BS in Architecture from Clemson and my MBA from Winthrop University. My family is my passion. I have two wonderful kids that are very involved in the community. My daughter is learning about horsemanship and my son is a Boy Scout and is currently working on his Eagle Scout project. Both are in Clover school district and love band. My wife and I are very involved in our church and local community. I am a Scout leader in the local Boy Scout Troop. I have extensive experience in grounds management, project management, resource management, animal husbandry, farm management, and farming.

Wes and his son have been working endlessly on the sensory trail! We can't wait to show you pictures soon of what's instore for the kids.

Up next on our Board members is our President Brittany Deputy.

I was Born and raised a local resident of Steele Creek area in Charlotte. I studied Recreation Therapy at East Carolina University. During my studies I focused on equine assisted therapy, therapeutic riding, and pet therapy. My passion, dedication and core belief in animal therapies stands strong. I also have my own Hobby Farm and love my hens. Our family is currently trying to expand our farm to reach multiple goals.

Welcome to all of our new followers! We are so excited to have you follow us in our journey and getting ready to open. Over the next few days we are going to be introducing our Board members that's making all of this possible. First off is Megan Hillard, Director of Happy Hooves and Feathers.

I have experience in building and executing farm based sensory experiences for autistic and pre-K Children. I was raised on a farm and involved with caretaking of cows, pigs, goats, chickens, horses and anything else my parents thought to raise. Since moving to the area I have established a local reputation for providing quality care for my livestock. My son is on the spectrum, level 1. I am his advocate and have been researching extensively about autism and different therapeutic strategies for autistic children. I am involved with the local 4-H group and love to help at Rideability when I can. My husband and I wanted to create a welcoming farm with friendly animals for families and kids to have a memorable experience. We cannot wait to meet you and show you around.

Thank you so much for everyone that has reached out to sponsor the tables, we now have one extra BIG surprise. Johnathan also made us a large ADA table! It's big enough to have two wheelchairs at each end and still have space for family members to sit around. We can't wait to see everyone in a few weeks. Make sure you follow our page to get sneak peaks.

Hi everyone! As you know we are about to open in just a few weeks! With that being said, we are going to be amping up our posts, emails and our website. We have been so fortunate that Johnathan, a local boy scout, has taken on our sensory trail for his Eagle Scout project. An Eagle Scout project must benefit the community and provide life experience for Johnathan in the future. Johnathan must demonstrate leadership by engaging other members of his troop, fundraising to help the project, utilizing time management skills, as well as financial planning and carpentry skills.

This Trail will benefit our community by allowing children to explore the path and allowing their therapist to come and help reach the child’s goals. Johnathan has several ideas on how to include all 5 senses on the trail and provide a safe place for children to learn and explore. It can help with language development, fine motor skills, imagination play, cognitive growth, problem solving, and so much more. The sensory trail is a crucial part of our program.

With that being said, Johnathan has asked us to send this out to our current followers and ask for monetary support to help fund his first part of the project with the picnic tables. Each table has been built to last with treated lumber and is heavy duty. Johnathan and his peers have built 5 toddler tables and one ADA table. Each table costs roughly $150 for the materials to build. Please reach out to us and let us know if you have any questions and would like to help with this project.
