Night lessons it is because the heat index is just too high for my comfort 🥵
Kane goes home Monday and honestly I’m impressed with his progress. He has went from a ball of anxiousness that couldn’t figure out what to do, to a relaxed fella who can problem solve. He’s now clean and mostly quiet in a crate, clean and totally quiet in a kennel, can just exist and be a dog, is crushing obedience, and has an awesome and most importantly POSITIVE understanding of the ecollar. I think he’s gonna be a fabulous guy for his family.
In case you fine folks are wondering anytime you see the red flash on his ecollar that is me tapping, he’s working on a level 10/100. We only use ecollar technologies collars which easily explained just work like an acute tens unit. The taps simulate the same pressure he learned in the on leash obedience, hence the beautiful clarity!
July board and trains are full but August is open!
Kane
Big milestones for Kane this week! Crushing lots of duration and distance with recalls means we can condition the ecollar now. He also needs no pressure to go in the crate now just a loose leash to ensure his sucess and is even quiet when another dog passes by to go out. Check out that short clip in the comments! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Like most puppies Kane doesn’t like the down, can’t say I blame him I can’t get off the ground easily these days 🤣 but a solid down is important for life, today we were graced with barking dogs and motorcycles. We use light pops to speed up his down and direct him we want it right there, no lolly gagging to be had you know! These pops will also help teach him how to turn off the tapping felt by the ecollar as it’s introduced, therefore giving him a positive understanding and the confidence to complete the task quickly. Look forward to showing you all his ecollar intro!
And so we have started teaching pressure and markers 🙌🏼
When you can effectively communicate with your dog and teach them to turn off pressure, any situation is a breeze. By telling Kane when he’s doing good and when somethings not quite right the stress diminishes because we’re not leaving him to guess what’s going on. Dogs contextualize more than you realize and many times you’re talking to your puppy too much, keep it simple!
Let’s talk muzzle conditioning! Did you know this actually can help in case they need emergency care, it can give you a safety net if your dog is reactive/scared, or it can just be something new to teach a pup that enjoys using their brain?
