Kristoff is the last of his litter still in our care; all of his brothers and sisters have found their forever homes. Although he is not mean, Kristoff is not as sweet and affectionate as his litter mates. He is litter box trained, and has had his kitten shots. He will be neutered as soon as he is old enough and we can get an appointment for him.

Meet Rusty Range! He got his name because he was found outside of Ranges Gym. He is about eight months old, and has had all of his kitten shots. He will be neutered as soon as we can get him an appointment. He is currently in a foster home, and gets along will with all of his foster brothers and sisters. His foster mom says he LOVES playing with dogs and other cats.

Jojo playing in the snow for the first time. Looks like she is loving this cold weather! ❄️❄️

Jojo is still looking for her forever home, and as January Pet of the Month, her adoption fee is sponsored.

Her current foster cannot say enough nice things about her! This smart puppy is crate trained, house trained and doggie door trained, plus she knows basic obedience. She gets along well with other dogs and loves to play, but is also happy to snuggle on the couch with her favorite people.

‼️ FOSTER NEEDED ‼️

Luna Love is in need of a new foster home. Her current foster is dealing with personal issues and unfortunately cannot keep Luna.

Her current foster says:
She is playful, and loves toys, especially ones that look like bugs.
She is affectionate, but only on her own terms. She does not like to be picked up but will crawl into her foster family’s beds while they are sleeping and snuggle with them.
She likes to drink water straight from the faucet.
She likes to play and nap inside cardboard boxes, and likes to climb into tote-bags.

AAPS will provide food, litter, little box, toys and anything else you will need to take care of Luna.

Meet Beau! This lab mox is about three months old. He is new to AAPS so we are still getting to know him. He is working on getting kennel trained and so far has been friendly with cats and other dogs.

Are you in need of a dog who can turn even the rainiest day into a cozy cuddle fest? Look no further than Jojo, an eight month old bundle of affection with a knack for snuggling!

Dogs: dog-friendly, Jojo seems to love being around other doggies. She will initiate play almost immediately. Jojo loves everyone she meets and gets excited to play with new playmates. She does take a correction very well if the others are not into playing at the time.

Cats: cat-curious (with no hard feelings if the cats aren’t keen on playing along). Jojo did great with meeting a cat initially! Jojo was scared and avoidant. Jojo will need some direction and instructions on how to behave properly around kittens with some slower intros. If kitties are in Jojo's future, Jojo would prefer slow intros. No kitties is easiest and best… but a home with kitties does not seem impossible.

Kids: Jojo has been great with kids of all ages. Jojo is still a puppy, so her playing might be a little too rough for smaller children. Jojo loves to snuggle up and sleep with her little humans too.

Crate: Crate training? She’s a pro! Jojo currently eats and rests in a crate when she is alone at home. She goes right in and settles down instantly. She is potty trained and very comfortable in a crate, when needed.

Energy Level: Jojo has enough zest for a game of fetch or a romp in the yard, but if you’re more into lounging on the couch, she’s more than happy to join you there. She might be tempted to engage in an enthusiastic game of tug-of-war or a spirited chase, but if cuddling is on the agenda, she’ll happily hit the brakes to snuggle up next to you. Actually… she would much prefer to be in your lap, on top of you, and as close as she can possibly be…. Her foster humans are just in awe of how cute she is when she cuddles up next to them.

In a nutshell, whether you’re up for active play or just chilling on the couch, Jojo is your girl. She’s ready to bring her big, loving heart and her unparalleled cuddling skills to her forever home. Are you ready to give this sweet girl all the love she deserves?

‼️A disturbingly large number of dogs are being returned to our care after an extremely brief period, in some cases as short as one day, and we would like to offer this helpful adoption tip. 💡

⏰ It just takes time!⏰

Following adoption, all pets undergo an adjustment period after leaving the shelter to go home. To manage expectations as your pet settles into their new life, the 3/3/3 rule serves as a valuable guideline. Patience and understanding are crucial during this transition. ❤️ 🐾

⚠️ Remember, every pet is unique, and the adjustment period may vary. By following the 3/3/3 rule, you can help your new companion feel safe, secure, and loved as they settle into their forever.

Meet our Per of the Month: Bubbles! 🫧 Bubbles is a you g female GSD/Husky mix. She is a sweet and high energy girl who got her name because she likes to dunk her head in water buckets and blow bubbles! 🫧 Bubbles gets along well with other dogs but we are not sure about cats. Do you like to drive and want to help our rescue pets? AAPS is looking for volunteer transport drivers. 🚙 Transport drivers to spay/neuter appointments must have van, minivan or SUV. 🚙 Spay neuter appointments are usually in Lubbock or Amarillo on the first Thursday of the month. The fosters meet the driver at Hobby Lobby in Clovis early in the morning (around 4-4:30 am.) You are not required to stay at the clinic all day. Most people do some shopping or catch a movie while they wait. 🚙We occasionally need help getting our pets to Hereford or Tucumcari for routine vet appointments. 🚗We also need drivers who can deliver food and supplies to our fosters.
