Microchipping Your Pets
Is your pet microchipped? Microchipping your pet is one of the best things you can do to help your pet be returned to you if they ever become lost. Collars and tags are still important so that anyone who finds your pet can easily identify them, but if their collar comes off, a microchip can help rescuers contact you!
A microchip is not a GPS tracking device, it simply is a reliable way to retrieve your contact information if your pet is found. The implant process is quick and easy, but the benefits will last a lifetime! Check to make sure your microchip is registered if the implant facility doesn’t already do so, and once it’s registered you can easily update your information online.
Please consider getting your pet microchipped before the Fourth of July holiday or checking with your microchip company to make sure your most current contact information is listed! Visit Miss Winkles Pet Adoption Center to get your pet microchipped for $25, with no appointment needed!
Transformation Tuesday: Bean the Siberian Husky
In addition to the many things our staff does to keep our Clovis Animal Receiving & Care Center running strong, we like to take the time to give dogs a quick grooming to help improve their wellbeing and make them more comfortable while they're with us.
Our Animal Services Aide, Carolyn Uribe, recently gave Bean a much needed brushout. Bean is a 1 year old Siberian Husky who came into our care with an extremely overgrown coat. Huskies have very thick fur that protects them from harsh winter conditions, so when they are living in hot climates, like we have here in the Central Valley, it's critical that they receive the proper grooming to remove the insulating undercoat so they don't overheat.
While Bean still will need some professional grooming, he's cooler and more comfortable as he waits for his forever home. Bean has been moved to our Miss Winkles Pet Adoption Center since he is now ready for adoption. You can learn more about him at misswinkles.com/adopt!

Safety First - Move Over When You See Amber Lights
Do you know what to do when you see the amber lights flash on our Animal Control vehicles? That means to slow down and move out of the lane carefully to keep you, our Animal Control Officers, and the animal they're trying to help, safe!
Whether it is picking up a deceased animal or trying to capture a pet at-large, sometimes we will need to temporarily impede the flow of traffic. This can be hazardous if our community isn't alert and cautious when moving around our stopped vehicles. So if you see the amber lights flashing on an Animal Control vehicle, please SLOW DOWN and MOVE OVER SLOWLY!
