Addison Bonaventure is a first-year veterinary student from San Angelo, TX, interested in mixed animal general practice. Her dogs are Skeeter and Hootie.

Skeeter was surrendered to the vet clinic Addison was interning at and she couldn’t stop herself from taking home a cute puppy! Hootie was rescued from a shelter back in Texas. Addison loves how loyal and goofy they both are!

Chillin like a.... Kangaroo🦘 and a Joey!!! Did you know a a mother kangaroo can produce milk of two different types to feed two different babies at the same time: one that has emerged from the pouch but is still nursing and a newborn. Truly amazing!

Microfilariae found in a blood sample of a dog. These are baby heartworms, and when a mosquito 🦟 lands on an infected dog it sucks these bad boys up then transfers them to the other dogs it lands on. Mosquitoes are terrible in Texas, as everyone knows. This means heartworms are just as bad. We see hundreds of positive dogs each year, just in our area!! If your dog isn’t on prevention, a simple blood test done right in our office that takes less then 10 mins can tell us if your dog has heartworms or not. If your dog is negative we can easily get them started on prevention to keep them from getting heartworm. Some people are concerned about Cost of prevention, but the cost of treatment for dogs could buy up to 14 YEARS of prevention. The damage to the heart of a dog with heartworms is permanent, it can’t be reversed, most people don’t realize their dogs even have heartworms until the symptoms start. I will make another post regarding symptoms!!

Our Story

Welcome to Callahan County Vet Clinic! We have served Callahan County and the surrounding areas since 1975. We are a full-service mixed animal veterinary hospital with two full-time veterinarians, Dr. Ancinec and Dr. Needham. Our staff truly cares for your fur (or furless) baby.

Dr. Ancinec is a proud graduate of Texas A&M. He has practiced in Callahan County for more than 39 years. Dr. Ancinec is married and has two children. Doc is an outdoors-man who enjoys fishing and hunting and Aggie football games. Whoop!

Dr. Needham is a proud graduate of Texas A&M, as well. He is a Coleman native and joined Callahan County in 2016. Dr. Needham's first fascination with vet medicine came from watching his childhood veterinarian give a sick goat a shot. The thought that he could reach into a bag, grab shots, and heal the goat had him hooked! He is married and has four children. He is a gun enthusiast who enjoys shooting sports, as well as dabbling and tinkering in his shop.
