Join us at Intrepid Acres for 4 days of dog-centered fun this autumn. Bring your tent, your friend, and your canine companion! Don't have a dog of your own? No worries, we'll have some available that would love to participate. There will be hikes, a fenced area for playtime, campfires, fun training classes, book clubs, and more!

{This event is appropriate for dogs who like to socialize with other dogs and humans or are at least neutral and tolerant. If you have a more selective dog, reach out about a private retreat.}

We'll be hosting a wild horse retreat here at in Clyde, NC (outside of Asheville) in August.
Two wild born mustangs will be here to teach us about wildness, connection, and learning. Days will be centered around choice and positive reinforcement-based teaching with additional opportunities to be with animals and in the forest. Meal-inclusive camping will be available.

Learning to self-regulate is critical for everyone, including our canine companions, and the ability to relax is a skill that takes time to develop. Relaxing on cue, and for an extended period of time, lowers heart and respiratory rates, and soothes a stressed-out mind. This virtual group class is designed for 6 dogs and their families to gather in a supportive environment and learn our 6 D’s relaxation protocol designed by Dr. Ariel Fagen, DVM, DACVB.

Lots of socialization opportunities for the puppies today! 🤩
The key is supporting them with your presence, encouragement, and some reinforcement without pushing them too far out of their comfort zone.
They both did an amazing job processing a group of kids running and yelling and sitting just out of the way of an area where people and dogs passed.

These puppies are ready to find their homes!
They are 11-week-old Siberian Husky/Rough Collie mixes that have been with us getting a super head start on training and socialization. They will be amazing hiking and joring companions!
Leo, the merle male, is sweet, independent, and food and toy motivated! If you want a husky that has a good start on being good with small animals and coming when called, he's your guy.
Lyria, the wolfy female, is brave, a thinker, and loves people! If you want a fierce but cuddly dog to train and spend lots of time with, consider Lyria.
Since arriving here, they have been working hard on important skills like house and crate training, cues like sit and come, and learning how to relax on a mat. They have also been exposed to lots of new animals, people, and places in a controlled and safe manner.
