We are still working on getting Jekyll’s weight back up. He’s slowly getting there. We are doing small sessions with him and not very often other than grooming. He’s a giant puppy.

He’s a good boy when he wants to be. Went on a walk outside the pen. Saw some cows. Didn’t freak out. Have to work on walking in and out of gates.

We have seen a different side to Jekyll the last few days. He doesn’t like yielding his right side. At first he was trying to bite, rearing, bucking, and kicking out. Luckily with Cheyanne’s help he’s been getting much better. This is the end of day 2 working on that side. Once he’s calms back down and realizes it isn’t bad, he’s back to his puppy dog self. So much so apparently he wanted to lay down to eat dinner tonight🤣

So Cheyanne Jackson and I string tested Spur tonight. I measured it when I got home. 17 hands😳 we knew he was going to be big, but it’s different when you see it! He’s only 14 months old. Standing next to my 6’ 4” boyfriend. And he isn’t even as filled out as he needs to be. He’s just over 6 weeks out of holding.

He still amazes me. The only thing I don’t like, which should come with time, he’s not very eager for grain. I’m not use to that. I’m ready for plump healthy boys!

And here we are again, Jekyll the wonder pony. His tiny human wasn’t there today as school finally started, so he had to deal with Cheyanne. The saddle barely weighs 3 pounds. But look how good he did!

So, the round pen FINALY dried up enough to work the boys. Today me and cheyanne worked on being on Spurs side out of his direct sight. Which he REALLY doesn’t like. By the end of the session, he was letting me walk up to him and work my way down to his belly to rub all over him without having the lead rope.

We haven’t gotten to work with the boys the past week because of the weather here. But we got a little time today. Both boys are leading great! Jekyll can be groomed all over still and is backing up on command. Spur backtracked a little bit but I was expecting that. He still has the halter on 24/7. I was playing around with him this afternoon, he backed as soon as I asked him to, and he spun on his front feet when I asked him to on both sides.

It’s kind of long, but I generally have to record myself. We had to do a little workout and give him a cookie before he would let me put the lead rope on. But our first real laps and first time working without food for motivation minus 3 cookies lol

Look at what we did!! I got lots of scratchings, even want down to his knees.

Off video we learned that lead ropes aren’t scary, and following me with the lead rope will get you feed! (Which he now loves)

So I’ve kept it to where I’m the main one working with Spur and my cousin every now and then. Today Spur met my boyfriend, and he did better than I thought he would. Jekyll won’t go anywhere near my boyfriend. So very proud of my redhead☺️ he let me brush his left side today all the way from his neck to his hip🥳🥳

Well I hardly get pictures of Spur, but yesterday he let me brush one side from his neck to his hip😌 and he let my 6 year old daughter pet him through the fence☺️☺️

Halter on day 7!!! I had to be deceitful and do it while his head was in the bucket, but I still got it on!! I didn’t get the enjoyment of being able to say I put a halter on a wild horse with my last mustang, but with Spur I can! I’m over the moon!
