Straight back to work πͺπ»
Working on some shallow leg yielding with Dalton to get him coming through his whole body and fall into my outside rein. Also to get my body remembering where it goes (ie not being super crooked π«£)
I do love some good Pony Pilates ππ»ββοΈ
GQ has been working hard at increasing strength and flexibility this winter with ground poles. The goal of using the ground poles is to not only have him become more aware of where his feet are but to help articulate his joints. GQ will always be a bit weak in his hind end due to having EPM a couple years ago and now being almost 22 π±. With some pony pilates it's helped keep him in shape this winter. Hopefully he'll be a trail riding king this summer ππ

A happy baby horse after playing around a little bit with our target training β€οΈβοΈ
With limited daylight hours I love incorporating quick 5-10 mins sessions of R+ training with BBQ. I like to have multiple straight-forward and easy to understand tools in our toolbox so if problems arise later on in training we have great rewarding tools to refer back too. π©π»βπ§
I am reinforcing the target currently as on our hand walks he has entered his distracted looky phase. With adding the target it will give his brain something to process while we work on building strength and endurance on hand walks π€βοΈ

BBQ has been working on going on some walks lately. It's gotten him out of the paddocks and looking at new things. He only likes to act like a Lipizzaner once every walk π€£ spicy cold baby βοΈπ
Doing hand walks around the property has been great exercise for the horses (and myself π€£) during this cold snap. I can leave their blankies on and stay bundled in my snow pants π₯Ά

How do you winter? βοΈβοΈ
Winters suck, but they suck less with friends.
I decided this winter to do a little series entitled "How do you winter?" The goal is to help me feel a little more inspired to put my snow pants on and go play with my ponies. π€© I plan on documenting my journey with my horses through the winter months.
Hopefully I can inspire my friends who may not travel to the land of palm treesπ΄ and ponies π¦ or even have a nice cozy indoor to call their own for the winter.
Soooo..... #howdoyouwinter?
