We have a new young lad that joined The Mini Mountain Farm this week! This is Tony. Tony was found abandoned beneath a pallet in a junk pile. He was lethargic, infested with fleas, and needed around-the- clock care. We think he’s between 3-4 weeks old, which means 2AM feedings have become our new normal! 😂🥱 He’s been eating like a champ and has been slowly warming up and showing us more of his goofy personality! He might just be the cutest thing we’ve ever seen and boy do we love him so! 🥰🧡🐯

This week is birthday week for the humans behind The Mini Mountain Farm. We would love nothing more than to raise funds for the animals that we care so deeply for. Funds are low and most of our day to day operating costs come directly out of our own pockets. This means that other necessary things get put on the back burner. Georgio needs to get neutered so he can be integrated in with the rest of the Kune Kune crew. Murphy and Plum also need to get neutered so they can be integrated in with one another. Mavis and Midge both need spayed for their long term health. We desperately need to expand the pasture for Mavis and Midge, as this rain has turned their outdoor area into an irreversible mud pit. The potbelly barn still needs to be finished. Fences need repaired. These are just a few of the things we need to accomplish this Spring. We are publicly funded and when we don’t receive donations and support, that means we do whatever we have to do to care for these animals. The Mini Mountain Farm is home to 14 pigs 🐷, 9 goats 🐐, 15 chickens 🐓, 4 ducks 🦆, 2 rabbits 🐰, and 4 cats 🐱. That’s a lot of mouths to feed! There’s no sanctuary without the human who intervenes and says: enough is enough. Wishing our two matriarchs, and Bess, who started it all a day of happiness and peace. Our sanctuary moms.

Without them there would be no home for Bess’ daughter bingo, Mavis and Midge, or the Three Old Men, or Odie, or the Kunekune crew, or Sprinkle and Yoda, and all the rest.

Without her daily refrain of “we gotta save Bess” there would be no sanctuary.

Without her bravery and patience and drive to make something beautiful here we’d have none of this.

To both of you, we love you. ❤️

Welcome to The Mini Mountain Farm, Wilbur! 🐷🖤
We were recently contacted by a local family who was looking to get rid of their pet pig. They had raised Wilbur from a piglet, but a year later, Wilbur had become too much for them to care for and a butcher had been scheduled to come pick him up. Having a slight change of heart, they found and contacted us as a potential forever home for Wilbur. We are so happy that they did because Wilbur is the sweetest, friendliest, and cutest boy who deserves to live just as much as you or I do. We couldn’t let his life end just for being a pig. Wilbur, you’ll always be safe here. You can root up all of the grass your little heart desires, dig the best muddy wallows, and enjoy all of the most delicious snacks. We are so happy you’re here. 🤍🐷

Sprinkle has settled in so nicely since her arrival six months ago. And what’s not to love about that face? We adore this sweet, gentle girl! 🧡🐐💛

There’s always a risk when you take in something so fragile. That was the case with Sq**rt. We did everything we could, but his body continued to betray him. It never gets easier. Rest easy, little Sq**rt. I’m sure you’re running as fast as your legs can carry you with your new found freedom. 🐥🥺❤️

The silver lining: His pal Penguin has made a full recovery and is rocking life! 🐥💪🏻🖤

Today we lost our sweet Poppy. She was the smallest of the flock, but she was certainly mighty. She was one of our very first chickens and she showed us what an impact such a tiny being can have on your heart. The bantam crew will never be quite the same without you. Rest easy, little lady. We will certainly miss you dearly down here…❤️🥺

Mavis & Midge are not one to turn down food so we knew something was up when they snubbed breakfast yesterday. (This is an old picture to put it out to the universe to get them eating again 🙏🙏🙏.)

Well it’s been over a day since their last full meal and their appetite and thirst remains low. This is very dangerous in these cold conditions.

Both girls are suffering from (tw: gross) the squirts. Diarrhea is serious in big girls like this so it’s important we have the vet out to help treat the symptoms and look into the cause.

Emergency measures are in place and the vet is slated for tomorrow. More info to come!
