A kind old soul has crossed over the rainbow.
Friesian Stallion Bente D touched many people throughout his life. I imported him as a 3 year old and he lived a wonderful loving life until the age of 19. He was an honest and sweet stallion who had better manners then most geldings. I trained Bente D through Prix St. George and due to developing Epiglotis Retroversion he had to be retired from upper levels. However, he continued to tote and train many working students and riders from 8 years old and up. Bente D has produced some wonderful kids that are competing to the upper levels in dressage. Unlike most Friesians Bente loved doing clean flying lead changes and once you got him started he wanted to keep doing tempis around the arena whether they were needed or not. Bente had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved having his butt scratched and would back a person into a corner (gently) until they scratched his butt. It was a barn joke and always entertaining watching him back up to a first time working student when they did not know what he was doing. Bente loved to give hugs and kisses. He was always a gentleman at the shows even if a mare was teasing him in the warm up arena. He knew his job in the arena and knew he could be a stallion in the breeding shed. Bente will always be remembered in my heart and I know in the hearts of many others that had the honor of knowing him. Gallup on my friend. See you on the other side.
PS. Any students or anyone that has pictures of their memories of Bente please share in the comments.
