Start the New Year off with a chase!!! then treats at Tails at The Barkery

Our first lure course of 2025 is coming up quick!

At these events, dogs chase a mechanized plastic lure through a zigzag course, tapping into their natural prey drive. If you’re looking for a fun way to channel your pup’s energy and instincts, the BCDTC Lure Course is the perfect choice!

The cost is $10 for the first run and $5 for each additional run. Equipment provided by Swift Paws.

During the same time we will be hosting our January FitDog community walk ! These walks count for 3 points towards your title goal! The cost is $5 for non members. It’s a great way to bond with your dog and get fit

‼️Fireworks frightens our Furry Companions ‼️

With New Year's celebrations around the corner, the loud fireworks can make our pets uneasy. Here's how to help your dog handle the noise:

🐾Before Fireworks:
1. Keep your dog company – they'll feel more at ease with familiar faces.
2. Settle in early – avoid going out after dark to create a cozy environment.
3. Never force your dog outside during fireworks, ensuring their comfort and safety.
Secure your home – check doors, windows, and fences to prevent any escape attempts.

🐾During Fireworks:
1. Block sensory stimuli – close windows, curtains, and turn on lights to minimize flashes and bangs.
2. Mask the noise – play music or turn on the TV to help disguise the sound.
Cater to your dog's needs – let them choose their response, whether it's hiding, seeking reassurance, or staying engaged with toys.
3. Maintain your calm – your dog picks up on your emotions, so staying relaxed helps reassure them.
4. Avoid scolding – if accidents happen, comforting is more effective than reprimanding.
