Our new rescue champ is doing good. Hand fed him last night bc we saw that he wasn’t really eating. So I hand fed him. I just think he wants to be spoiled

We got the new rescue settled in and went with the name Champ for him. He is extremely sweet and doing amazing! He’s been eating and climbing on his own. His MBD doesn’t seem too be to advanced so with some proper care, he should have a great quality life as our family pet! Welcome to the family Champ!

If all goes as planned, we will be welcoming this new rescue tomorrow. This crested gecko suffers from metabolic bone disease, a completely preventable illness.

Metabolic Bone Disease (MBD) is a term used to describe a problem with their bones which results from a combination of poor nutrition (high phosphate, low calcium and low Vitamin D), kidney disease or inadequate UV B light (leading to Vitamin D and calcium deficiency).

We have two other rescues who also suffer from this. Chance, another Crested Gecko, and Ralph, a leopard gecko (photo included to show the reality of this condition, notice his arms).

There is no cure. We can only prevent it from progressing.

When the new crested gecko arrives, we will accommodate his enclosure based on his needs.
