Fostering isn’t just about giving a pet a place to stay; it’s about giving them the chance to show who they truly are outside of the shelter environment. ❤️ Whether it’s a short-term sleepover or a longer-term commitment, fostering provides vital insights into our residents’ personalities & helps us learn more about them to find the best possible homes.
🐕 Meet Boone! He’s the longest and oldest canine resident at PCAS who has had zero interest since coming to the shelter in July. He was one of the lucky pups who participated in our “Home for the Holidays” sleepover. Check out this heartwarming video made by his foster mom.
This video brought tears of joy and excitement for Boone! The staff never got to see the playful side of Boone. As you can see, he is living his best life!
Boone is available for adoption.

‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the town, Not a shelter dog stirred, not a whimper nor frown. Their kennels sat empty, the shelter was bare, Because kind-hearted families had shown them they care. Each pup was snuggled in blankets so tight, Dreaming of love on this magical night. With wagging tails and eyes full of cheer, They felt the true joy of Christmas this year. So thank you to all who opened your door, To give these sweet dogs the love they adore. For no dog deserves to be lonely tonight, Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night! 🎄🎄🎄
PCAS Howliday Giving Tree In the quiet of the shelter, where the animals wait with hope, there stands a tree so full of love, a symbol of kindness to cope. No presents hang from its branches, no toys or treats in sight, But the tree still stands with open arms, offering comfort through the night. For the greatest gift it gives is not wrapped in paper or bow, It's the promise of a better future, a chance for love to grow. So let's come together, hand in hand, to fill this tree with care, With donations, time, and love, showing these animals we're there. And as the tree stands tall and proud, amidst the shelter's walls, it reminds us of the power of giving, to answer the animals' calls.🎄 Friendship APL Giving Tree 🎄 🎁Grab an ornament from the tree and pledge to donate the item listed on that ornament! Examples include: wet kitten food, cheese wiz, clorox wipes, etc.! Donate the item your ornament suggests and put it under the giving tree! Return your ornament to the tree for the next supporter who chooses to give! If you can't make it to the shelter to pick an ornament, shop our Amazon list at:https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/261UO66KAML8S/ref=hz_ls_biz_exOur animals will be excited to receive these gifts for the holiday! 🎄🎅

Help Us Help Them!
A Call for Help: Addressing a Heartbreaking Hoarding Situation Together
Today, Park County Animal Shelter faced one of the most challenging situations in recent memory.
Our local animal control officer brought in a woman who had been living in a trailer, overwhelmed and unable to care for her dogs. Initially, we were told to expect 12 puppies, but the reality was far more dire—20 dogs of all ages and sizes were relinquished to our care.
This heartbreaking hoarding situation has left these dogs skittish, afraid, and in desperate need of love and attention. Many of the puppies have never known a stable or nurturing environment.
They require not only veterinary care—including spaying, neutering, vaccinations, and treatment for illnesses—but also emotional support to begin their journey toward healing. The costs to provide these dogs with the care they urgently need will be significant.
Beyond medical expenses, they need proper nutrition, training, and safe, loving foster homes to help them adjust to a normal life while we work to find their forever families.
How You Can Help?
This is where our amazing community comes in. We urgently need:
1. Volunteers and Foster Homes: If you can open your heart and home to one of these dogs, even temporarily, you’ll be giving them a chance to learn trust and experience love.
2. Donations: Every dollar counts. Your financial support helps cover the costs of medical care, training, and daily necessities for these dogs. Please visit parkcountyanimalshelter.org/donate to make a contribution.
3. Supplies: Items like food, and cleaning materials are also greatly needed during this time.We understand how difficult this situation is for everyone involved. The woman who surrendered these dogs was overwhelmed and struggling to manage. At the shelter, we are stretched to capacity, both in resources and emotionally, but we remain committed to giving these animals the fresh start they deserve.
Your support has always been
