We were saddened to lose Flash on October 2nd. Flash came into WBHR in June of 2023 from Gracie's Project, in Tulia, TX. Flash found a Forever Foster Home with Linda in Cheyenne and boy, did he hit the jackpot! He had daily walks and was fit and trim in no time! Flash had a large mass removed before we took him in and later had another small mass removed. This past Summer, he started losing weight, even though he was eating fine. He recently developed diarrhea that could not be brought under control, no matter the meds from the vet. The vet was fairly certain he had cancer, but further tests would have been needed to confirm, but it couldn't be fixed. Flash lived up until he no longer felt good and was also having trouble walking. Linda knew it was time to help him across the Rainbow Bridge. Flash was over 15 years old. Thank you Gracie's Project entrusting us to care for him. He was a very sweet old soul and full of s***k and life! He loved living with Linda and 'Buster' and he enjoyed rolling in the grass and chilling out, watching westerns on TV. Run like the wind, Flash! We will see you again.

Dozer's family contacted us this past Monday, telling us of his passing. Dozer came into WBHR on January 30, 2019, at the age of 7½ years old, as an owner relinquishment. He became part of a wonderful family with Steve and Judy, in March that same year. Dozer had 5½ wonderful years with them! He couldn't have asked for a better family. Dozer had developed severe arthritis in his joints and spine. The last several months were hard on Dozer, yet he never complained. Up until this past week, he was always ready to go for walks along his creek. He was a wonderful big brother to previous brother Buddy, and currently to little shih tzu, Belle, allowing her to puppy handle him around the house, protecting her from nasty, puppy eating flies, and grooming her on a regular basis. A true Basset buddy, companion, and great friend…his family will miss him terribly. You are now pain-free, Dozer, at the beautiful Rainbow Bridge! Enjoy your walks and your family will see you again one day.

Please bid on Kathy Golden Frisch's original post below. She is taking the bids on these wonderful hounds she makes by hand. This one is #1047. That is how many of these she has made over the years!! Please bid high and bid often! We have recently taken in four basset hounds. Two of them, the males, may need surgeries due to issues with their legs/patellas. All proceeds will to toward veterinary bills.

Thank you and a huge thank you to Kathy Golden Frisch!!!

Bogie goes in today for his neuter, microchip and x-rays of his hips and legs. Bogie came into WBHR with a noticeable limp. Previous vet records showed recommendation of possible orthopedic surgery. We will see what is found today and go from there. All positive thoughts and prayers appreciated.

***UPDATE - DNA results are in. We will post them tonight. Bogie has 18 breeds in his DNA.***

We would like your guesses on what breeds are in Bogie's DNA.

We will give the winner their choice of a WBHR t-shirt, 2 tote bags or cap.

Guessing starts now and ends in 2-3 weeks when we get the results.

Some information for you:

Bogie weighs around 47 #. He is 9 months old. In the photos, he is shown with 42 # Daisy the basset hound, who is 2 years old. He is also shown with dachshund Lil' Bit.

The person with the closest guess will be the winner. DNA was just sent in this week, so we won't know the results for 2-3 weeks. If we have two people with the same guess of his breeds, we will go with the person who posted that combination first, so be sure to check 'all comments' before posting your guess.

Please let us know if you have any questions and have fun! We're excited to find out Bogie's results! Thank you!

Dear Miss Olive passed away yesterday, due to huge mass on her leg and spine. Her family, Lee and Ashley, helped her across the Rainbow Bridge after being spoiled this past weekend. And all of her life! Olive was one of five puppies who came into WBHR with their mom Lolly, on July 23 of 2012. Olive was adopted by Lee and Ashley on September 6th that year and she lived a wonderful life as part of their family for nearly 12 years. Olive has joined family siblings Roxy and Racer, along with birth brothers Kendal and Slugger and their mom, Lolly. You are now free of pain and masses, Olive! Run and frolic with your fur-family. You are greatly missed back here on earth by all who knew you, especially Lee and Ashley.

It was with broken hearts that Allen and Holly helped Keely across the Rainbow Bridge on Sunday, August 4th. Keely found a new home with Allen and Holly in May of 2020, when her previous family moved over seas. They loved taking her into their home and being a part of the family for the past 4+ years. Keely enjoyed soaking in the sun, camping trips and chasing bunnies, as well as playing with her friends Gus, Willis and Ackley. Keely would have been 10 years old on August 29th. She had previously had cancer of her eyelid back in July and again September of 2019, when it was decided to remove her left eye. Then when a solid mass was found in her abdomen last month, she had surgery on July 17 removing her spleen with the 4½ # mass. CSU confirmed it was a splenic stromal sarcoma. It's a rare type of mass and historically has high metastatic potential, mainly in the liver. A week later an ultrasound confirmed the cancer had moved to her liver and she had quit eating. We know that Shamus, Oscar and others were there at the Bridge to show Miss Muffin Butt the ropes. You're pain free now, Keely and can chase all the bunnies your heart desires and eat all the food you want. You were so very loved. There aren't enough words to express the loss. Hearts broken, and a quiet house.

Toby's family let us know that he crossed the rainbow bridge this past Wednesday. Toby was at least 15 years old. He came into WBHR in February of 2012 as an owner relinquishment. The husband had recently married and the wife wasn't a fan of dogs. Their loss! He was adopted a month later and that home had him for about 4 years. They relinquished him back to us when they lost jobs and had to move into an apartment. Toby's new home, two months later, with Marilyn and 'fur kids' was the bomb! They adopted him July 16, 2016 and Toby had a wonderful life with them for 8 years! He couldn't have asked for a better family. We know that Toby, T-Bone as he was nick-named, is back with foster friends like Sacket. Running pain free. Enjoy the view, T-Bone! Your loved ones will see you again.
