In the fall, herds of elk migrate through the mountains all around us -- including a spot that may look very familiar to those who've been on our trail rides! Enjoyed getting to watch the elk in the meadow right behind the Lodge this morning.

SEEKING: DUDE RANCH COOK

Shoshone Lodge and Guest Ranch is located in a stunning mountain setting just three miles from the East Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. We offer all-inclusive five night stays (Monday afternoon through Saturday morning) — our guests enjoy cozy log cabins, hearty family-style meals, and activities that include horseback riding, van tours into Yellowstone, a float trip, the Cody Nite Rodeo, square dancing here at the Lodge, and more! We run a small crew of about 20 employees which requires our staff to work well together to ensure that our guests have a great experience.

We are currently seeking to fill a DUDE RANCH COOK position for the 2023 Summer/Fall season (mid-May through mid-September).

Our team of 2-3 cooks share the load of providing family-style meals for our guests throughout the week; we try to keep each cook to about an 8 hour work day. Responsibilities include prep for meal service as well as cooking family-style meals for both our staff and guests; specific schedules vary from day to day. Cooks also have the opportunity to enjoy serving guests in an outdoor setting during our once-a-week breakfast and dinner rides.

We run a schedule of 5 days on, 2 days off. Payscale negotiable depending on experience. Room and board included at no charge. End-of-year bonuses are provided to hard-working employees who complete the full season.

If interested, please email your resume, three references, and the dates you're available to work (our season runs from mid-May through mid-September) to [email protected]. Feel free to reach out with any questions — 307-587-4044. Thanks!

“Do you guys live at the Lodge in the winter?” is something lots of guests ask us. We sure do! ❄️ With the local ski area right across the road from the Lodge, skiing is a big part of our winter fun. Mike volunteers as a ski racing coach for local kids, and last weekend we all had a great time helping host a local race. Here are a few pictures from race day of Mike, Betsy, the kids, and Nate!

Did you know that Henry and Bertha Dahlem (Mike’s great-grandparents) operated a sawmill here in the Grinnell Creek drainage beginning in the 1920s? The Lodge and cabins were built with logs from that sawmill. Today, the tradition continues — here’s a video from a few days ago of Kaycee and Nate milling boards for an interior cabin project. ❄️
