Antler Point Gun Dogs

Antler Point Gun Dogs Creating the ultimate hunting dog. Companions in the home - Companions in the field.

Labrador Retrievers have been a part of our family since we were married almost two decades ago. Living in the state of Wyoming, it almost seemed criminal not to have a dog curled up at our feet - especially after we started bring our two-legged pups in to this world. Of course Wyoming is a sportman's paradise from the high country elk and mule deer to the low-land whitetail deer, prairie antelope

, upland game, water fowl and too many lakes streams and rivers full of rainbow, brook, brown and cutthroat trout to mention. The trusty Labrador at our side through the years just seemed to complete our little homemade mountain paradise. Our love and passion for the animals grew as our interests in the outdoors evolved. After getting the chance to hunt over a GSP in an out of town bird hunt - we decided we HAD to have a pointing dog. You can only imagine our excitement when we found out there was such a critter as a pointing Labrador! Although most would classify it as a want - we saw it as a need and introduced Newt, our first pointing Labrador, to the family. Shortly thereafter we found another high country sport that became a passion - shed hunting. During the spring months, there are a plethora of elk and deer sheds in the mountains. And - guess what? Yup, one can train a Labrador to pick up sheds (even sheds buried under the snow). Abby would be our first dog trained to pick up sheds. And of course - through the seasons and high country activities - we had our family at home. This is where our dogs find their most valuable niche in our lives - that of family dog. There is never a time period that we have less than half a dozen dogs at Antler Point - and every one of them are house dogs. They are members of our family. When deciding to breed Labradors - we wanted to create a mission, a vision for what our outcomes of this lifestyle would be. Of course, the primary focus was doing something that would better the Labrador breed. Therefore we pride ourselves in proven blood lines that all have the appropriate health certifications to ensure long and happy lives of our pups and those folks that invite our pups in to their homes. So confident are we at Antler Point Gun Dogs in the health and lines of our puppies that we offer a 24 month health guarantee - and a (pup) lifelong open door to return pup. Finally - we wanted to find a unique niche for our dogs. We decided we would create the jack-of-all-trades pup. Our dogs come from blood lines that point, are strong swimmers, excellent retrievers, shed hunters, upland machines and most importantly - have the disposition and intelligence that will make them a cherished member of your family. In a nut shell, that is the history of where Antler Point Gun Dogs is today. We are growing - and we continue to learn about the breed that we are so passionate about. We sincerely appreciate you stopping by and listening to our story. If there is anything you ever need - and you do not find it on this website or our Facebook or Twitter page - please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you again! Antler Point Gun Dogs

Called out for a tracking mission this morning - and the big man found a little trail treasure.

We had to work the I-90 Interstate … dangerous mission - he was on point the entire time (8 miles).

Best all around - do anything I ask dog in the world, our Deets.

We’ve been thrilled to have the opportunity to train some awesome gundogs - all which are now with their amazing forever homes.

Today we got some time to train our own girl Ide (Deets x Crows Sage)

We couldn’t be happier to know lil Ashe (Deets x Kate) has found her new home with Shane Spradlin and Kala Spradlin - she’s going to have an amazing life!

Celebrities for a Cause Inc.event was amazing. We really enjoyed getting to visit with folks about dogs.

Great to catch up with Jeff Frye to talk about his puppy, Cody.

Chris and Maddie Cooley had last year’s pup Sam at the event. Great to see him and visit with the Cooley’s.

Thank you Ryan Brown and all involved with Celebrities for a Cause.

Already looking forward to next year!

Over the road - and through the woods to we go!

Today is the day! Ashe (Deets x Kate) knows her forever home

pup, Ashe (Deets x Kate) … “I’m not quite sure where my next home may be, I’m excited to know this answer Saturday. However, my roots started in the mountains, much of my socialization and training was at high elevations. Just in case it’s awhile before I see them again … I need to take one last peak.”

We will be with Ashe tomorrow in the Cody City Park. Stop by - what an awesome event our good friend has organized - and the price is outstanding for the events and opportunities you can take advantage of.

It’s always been a privilege to work with the gang and … coaching a young pup for such an awesome cause (this year and ).

But - we have to say it, and I am quite positive every one can agree - hats off to Ryan. This is a man with a family and a full time (and then some) job - a legion baseball coach and an active member of the Cody community … and yet, he finds the time necessary to organize such a large scale event.

Having had the privilege to coach with Ryan - it’s hardly a surprise. A man of true integrity, passion and commitment to service. There are countless folks behind the scenes that allow this event - but, Ryan is the man behind the proverbial curtain - and what he does is nothing short of remarkable.

Thank you, my friend, for asking us to be a part of another event … and congratulations to you and your team for quite possibly the best event yet.

Another important part of the socialization of gundog pups in training is introducing them to challenges and obstacles - and let them figure out a way around, over, or through.

You can offer coaching and encouragement - but don’t help … remember the life you are training them for.

This is such an important process in the development of your gundog. You’re allowing them to gain the confidence they will need to be a well rounded pup.

And it has to happen “out there” in different settings. New schema each time. The more you introduce them to, the more they are acclimated to - the less distractions they will have when the hunt starts.

And - let’s be honest. The best part of training a dog is watching them do something for the first time. That will happen often during this time of socializing your hunting partner.

Celebrities for a Cause Inc. pup, Ashe (Deets x Kate) putting in the basics - doing the small things to the best of her ability … no task too small for this pup. Because at the end of the day - in the home or in the field - we want our dogs well behaved.

We’ve started a solid foundation with this pup. She is crate trained - sit, stay, heel, and place. She will walk or jog with you on leash.

One thing we really want to point out in this video Look how she looks at me. Her food is straight in front of her - but her focus is on me. What tremendous respect she shows.

It’s a good thing we don’t own a pup we could replace her with … if we did, we’d be keeping Ashe. This is a fine gundog - very special.

Of course, that doesn’t mean we won’t be bringing our check books Saturday to get in the action!

We’ve done the hard part of the training. It’s all smooth sailing from here!

We welcomes home our new pup, Ida, last night.

Her first night was spent on the golf course - and she was an absolute champ. First morning, training “sit” - she received a first time go.

Incredibly sharp. Eyes locked on me at all times.

This pup came to us from the Crow family in Sheridan, Wyoming owners of MC2 Real Estate and Land Company and MC2 Engineering and Construction. Their female, Sage, comes from an alphabet soup of who’s who in the competitive gun dog arena.

Our stud dog, Deets, is the sire of this litter.

They have a couple of females available this weekend.

If you are looking to add a four-legged member to your family … you will be hard pressed to find a better pup at a better price.

If you’re interested - please shoot us a message or text 307.899.0827 and we will put you in touch with Chris and Megan.

You’ve heard folks talk about that “once in a lifetime dog” - these girls have the making for that title!

Vader (Deets x Kate) using chow time to brush up on sit and stay.

We really take advantage of morning and evening feedings with puppies. From sit and stay to kennel and place - they hardly know it’s work - their minds focused on the food.

Miss Kate - the mother of puppy, Ashe

In the house, you’d swear she wasn’t a hunter. She is an absolute lady, wherever you are, she’s laying by your feet.

When having a conversation - she sits, looking at each person as they talk. Seeing jt, you swear at any moment she will open her mouth and lend to the conversation.

In the field … well, watch the video. This is what you get 100 percent of the time.

Kate came to us from in South Dakota. Her pedigree is truly an alphabet soup of some of the greatest gundogs in the business (past and present).

Kate and Deets both have their health certifications - as do dogs on both sides of the pedigree through atleast three generations.

You can meet this year’s puppy, Ashe in Cody city park Saturday, August 17th. She will be mingling with all in attendance. Then that evening our good friend will be auctioning her to the highest bidder.

Proceeds from Ashe will benefit and

Lil Ashe … aka “Water Bug”

This year’s puppy has a long list of talents - one of which is a true passion for water.

At a mere ten weeks of age - she has no fear. Independent and always exploring - her socialization and confidence training has been a breeze!

The count down is officially on. 12 days, Ashe (Deets x Kate) will be in Cody City Park where later that evening she will be auctioned with proceeds going to and

Ashe (Deets x Kate). 2024 Puppy.

We own a full sister to Ashe … Goose. Goose just might be the best hunting dog we own (and we have an all star cast of hunting rock stars!).

Goose flushed her first pheasant at a mere 4 months of age. Her first hunting season as a year old pup - she destroyed our veteran dogs. She is an absolute natural in the field - her point is as steady as they come … and listed in his resume is shed hunter and big game tracker.

That said - hunting is not a requirement. We have other Deets x Kate puppies that have never seen the field … but have grown to be amazing members of the family.

This is not hard to believe if you know Deets and Kate. If you walk in to the house this second … both are splitting time holding down the couch. Extreme Lady and Gentleman in the home.

But get out the shot gun - or turn down a dirt road … or get out a tennis ball or the leash for a run … instantly there is a switch. Hard charging, hard working, never tire (and never quit) four legged warriors.

If you have a training plan - no matter what it may be - Ashe qualifies. She is highly intelligent - amazing food drive - and her trainability is simply off the charts.

We have a plethora of Deets x Kate owners. If you’re interested and would like references - don’t hesitate to reach out! If you own a Deets x Kate puppy, we’d love you to comment here with your experiences.

Welcome our new four-legged black female, Ida.

This little lady is a Deets pup - the attached pedigree is that of her mom, Sage.

Solid paring.

When Deets and Sage are together - you’d have a hard time identifying who is who - looks and disposition.

Sage’s owner has a couple female puppies available. If interested - shoot us a text - and we will be happy to put you in touch with the Crow Family.

Ida will be joining us next week - we can hardly wait to start her training!

When naming a pup for the event - we always try and keep the name “sports related.”

This year’s puppy, Ashe is name after the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. One common theme of every event we’ve been a part of is stories of incredible courage - heroism - and inspiration.

Ashe seems fitting.

In our last post - we discussed her drive, intellect, and trainability. This post - we have to point out her looks.

We are proud to say, we have produced some fine looking pups … Ashe may be the best looking yet.

Her black coat is short and shiny - her head is perfectly proportional … and she will grow to have the athletic muscular build of her Dad and Mom.

Folks talk about that “once in a lifetime” dog. Ashe will qualify.

Saturday, August 17th - you can meet Ashe at the City Park in Cody … then she goes up for bid Saturday evening!

So. We had a little last minute change order.

Welcome, Ash. Ash is a Black Labrador Retriever female out of our Kate ( ) and Deets ( ) paring.

Ash’s pedigree is an alphabet soup of some of the best gundogs in the business.

And Ash is your 2024 puppy!

A little “change-up” or dare we even say “curve-ball” this year … Ash will be auctioned on Saturday night of the event.

What does that mean to you? Ash will be available all day at Cody City Park - your chance to meet her - see her disposition - and immediately see her alertness and intelligence.

Ash will be a couple days over 12 weeks … crate trained, leash trained, sit, stay, retrieving, a foundation of scents, and she will be a very well socialized puppy.

Basically - we take care of the tough parts of the puppy training for you.

This year marks four years that we have teamed up with our good friend for this incredible annual event.

This year’s funds will go to and

In addition … we would welcome and .cooley.chronicles to reply with their experiences with the pups they have brought home from past

This is a great event - always a great cause - hanging out with great folks.

If you have any questions about Ash … don’t hesitate to reach out 307.899.0827.

You can expect regular updates for the next two weeks and few days before the event … we really want to give you all a chance to meet her before her time at City Park.

Folks. This may our best puppy yet. If you’ve been thinking about adding a four-legged member to the family … this is your girl!

Not a hunting family? No problem. We will give you the tips and tricks to a happy gundog in a non hunting family - we have a plethora of success stories.

General warning: we’re training her - we’re kind of attached. We’re planning to make the bid sporty!

8 week old River x Maya “Yellow Collar” Female is now available for her forever home.

I ask anyone that has a River x Maya pup to reply with their experiences of their own dogs.

What you’re guaranteed from River x Maya. Super sharp, hard working, all go, non stop motors. If you ask them to run through a wall to retrieve something … they will.

And in the home, they are complete ladies and gentlemen.

Bottom line - there’s nothing this puppy won’t do for you.

Oh. And they’re not too shabby to look at :).

Questions? Don’t hesitate giving us a shout!
