Classy is getting pretty dang cool. She’s come a ways and is moving more fluidly, with less effort.

Evelyn and I got some ponies out and about yesterday.

Flint has become a project of Evelyn’s; getting him to come out of his shell, and back in shape. She’s done a phenomenal job with him!
Moose has struggled with hills in the past. Back to basics fine-tuning his body control and teaching him to use his hind end, helped him navigate much more effectively. Moose was a good mentor!

Moose is coming 4 this year and has had more miles than most after working on Wyoming ranches; his owner was a wrangler for a guest ranch. He’s got a good start, but has a threshold he doesn’t like to work past, and some sticky feet. He’s one to conserve his energy until he’s ready to throw a fit. Yesterday, he freed up some and was moving much better!
✨Laroca✨ Just two weeks ago, she had to be roped to be caught and get her to training. Now she’s meeting me at the gate and eager. We have a ways to go, but I’m pretty pleased with how she comes around and looks to me for guidance and leadership.
Mercy’s sure didn’t take long to come back around after a year off. Thanks to Hansen’s Farrier Service, she’s got some new kicks and is moving much better. We’re continuing to work on balance, body control and maintaining a steady gait.
Some obstacle work as the sun goes down, with Kelpie.
Everyone got some turn out time yesterday - the mustangs were the most appreciative! Murphy, Draugr and Kelpie
Windy evening to work some ponies!
The gangs all here, minus Ginger.
A little bit of yesterday. Ginger’s first ride, getting Flint ready to sell and Kelpie getting better and better. "He who marvels at the beauty of the world in summer will find equal cause for wonder and admiration in winter." — John Burroughs
Kelpie
I’m not even sure how many rides we’ve had to be honest, but it has been many. Kelpies first outing was today, and I couldn’t be more proud of how she handled the new environment.
Kelpie
Little mare coming right along! She’s sure soft, and moves well off leg and seat. Kelpie is going to make a fantastic horse.
Dwiggit
Today I put a ride on Dwiggit, a Mustang I’ve worked with to a handful of times. I planted some seeds and instilled some confidence, and gave Cori Ann some tips on continuing his education. After today, we have a horse feeling our seat and energy, some steering installed and more comfortable at the walk and the trot.
Super proud of Cori Ann and all of her hard work and diligence with Dwiggit! She’s done a phenomenal job with him.
Gator
Today, Gator goes home after 60 days. I love doing the prep work, however Kayla made it easy sending me a horse with an already strong foundation. There were things to improve on, but there always is and will be. Kayla brought Gator to me to be started under saddle. With that expectation, sending me a horse with an already strong foundation just allows me to spend more time in the saddle.
Kayla, I can’t thank you enough for such a good boy! He was a favorite, and opened my mind to some new ideas and tricks. Can’t wait to see where you and Gator go together!
Buddy
I got a call a few weeks ago about a family that was trying to move to California and couldn’t get one of their horses loaded. As a family they decided although they loved him, he was too much horse for them and they would like to find him a more suitable home.
I wish I remembered to take video this morning, but Buddy hadn’t been in a trailer since he was purchased from a man with a heavy hand, despite multiple attempts. Buddy had plenty of poor experiences with the trailer, and would rear, spin and bolt.
This morning, he reared, spun and tried bolting. 15 minutes later, Buddy very willingly climbed right in like nothing ever happened. He tied quietly, and off we went.
Gator
Gator was pretty tough to get to move out with a purpose, and keep him soft in the rib cage… but he’s dang near ready to go home now! I’ve genuinely enjoyed working with him and will be bummed to see him go.
Gator
Gator has a good handful of rides now and is just piecing it all together. The boy has made me WORK for it but he’s coming right along!
It sure isn’t flawless, but it’s soft.
Cle Elum bound for the MYWY Mustang Madness TIP Challenge Event tomorrow!
Little drill I learned while spending some time with Gerry Cox!
Getting Murphy lighter on the front end, and building awareness to not only leg pressure, but a change and a lack/removal of pressure.
