Meet Montana
Montana is a beautiful 1 ½ year old girl. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations and heartworm negative. She was found wandering around outside the rescue looking for love. We took her in and noticed that she was limping on one of her back legs from a previous injury but after a couple of weeks of medicine, she is doing much better!
Montana is the sweetest dog in the world and has never met a stranger. She gets along great with new people, other dogs, cats, children, etc. She loves to play and go on walks and to be where the people are.
Right now, Montana is in a foster home and she has adapted to the new home very quickly and she is learning fast how to live in a home! She is learning some manners (not jumping up on people) and acclimating well to living with other animals. She has some separation anxiety, but according to her foster, it is getting better the longer they have her.
She is still young so she has some puppy energy that comes out sometimes. She is an active dog so she would do great with an active family.
Montana has been given a clean bill of health and is ready to find her forever home! If you are interested in adopting Montana, please reach out to us at [email protected] or call us at 706-548-2233.
If you would like to donate to her medical bills/ food costs, our venmo is -vetrescue

Carter is still available!! He is an adorable 5 month old neutered male. Carter is a lab/pit mix.
He is a very smart boy and he is food motivated which helps with training. He knows how to sit and just recently learned how to fetch!
We are still working on some manners with him because he has a lot of puppy energy. He is very friendly with other dogs and meeting new people. He likes to play with cats but he has not learned that he is bigger than them now and he plays a little rough.
If you are interested in Carter, feel free to swing by when we are open (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9-5)
You can either call us at 706-548-2233 or email us at [email protected] for more information.

Donation Request!
We are so thankful for all of our lovely volunteers and the people that make what we do possible. With that being said, we need your help. We have recently had a large intake of kittens and they eat a looootttt of wet food. At CVRS we like to feed our cats grain free foods and a couple of brands that we like are Nulo, American Journey, Tiki Cat, Wellness.
With it cooling down, we could also use big blankets. We do not needs sheets at this time, but blankets would be hugley appreciated!
Thank you so much for your support! We couldn't do this without you!.

Meet Cornelia
Cornelia is a beautiful 1 year old female. We found her in a live trap near the rescue after we were trying to trap another cat. Not sure how she would adapt to living inside, we went ahead and spayed her along with giving her vaccinations. Since she has been with us she has had a wonderful transformation. At first Cornelia was very nervous around people, always wanting to hide and be by herself, but after just a few weeks she started opening up and we got to see who she really was.
Cornelia loves pets and attention now and she is a professional at making biscuits. She enjoys cuddling with her friend, Ethan, and finding cozy spots to take naps in.
Cornelia seems to get along well with other cats and she likes people, she just needs a little time to warm up.
Cornelia has been given a clean bill of health

Meet Nico,
He is looking to be rehomed due to not getting along with the other dog in the household. Here is a little bit about him.
“Hi, my name is Nico Suave! I am a 10-month-old German Shepard/Belgian Malinois with a hit of Aussie and weigh about 35lbs. I’m really smart, energetic and food motivated so I really like learning new things. I am UpToDate on all my shots, neutered, housetrained, crate trained, and I am currently enrolled in a training program with K-9 Off Leash Athens. I know some tricks, love to fetch, tug-o-war and play in the water hose or in the wind of a leaf blower! I really enjoy people but get stressed when strange dogs come around. I like to try to play with my cat brother and get along great with children. My ideal home would not have any other dogs and preferable a big backyard. Come and meet me so we can be best friends!”

Meet Pinot Noir
Pinot is a beautiful 1 year old female. She is the sweetest girl and loves everyone she meets.
She gets along pretty well with other cats after getting to know them and is indifferent about dogs. She loves attention from people and appreciates getting pets and scratches behind her ears.

Pinot is a brave girl, always wanting to explore, and is curious about everything. She loves playing with any and every toy around, but she also enjoys taking naps in cozy places.

Miss Pinot is fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped and ready to go to her forever home.
If you are interested in adopting or fostering Pinot, please reach out to us at [email protected] or call us at 706-548-2233. Just a reminder, we are open from 9-5 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Feel free to stop by to meet her!

Special Spotlight for Pablo Escobark
Pablo has been in the rescue for over a year and is still looking for his forever home! He is a jack russell terrier and about 6 years old.
Pablo has had a rough life of going back and forth between rescues. He was adopted from Barrow County a couple of weeks before being surrendered to CVRS. He was surrendered the second time to us due to his underlying skin issues and barking. After further examination, we determined that Poor little Pablo is allergic to quite a lot with dust bunnies being his biggest trigger. Pablo will be on allergy medications for the rest of his life.
He is a very active guy who loves going on walks and playing with other dogs.
Pablo is the sweetest little boy and gets along great with all people and children. He gets along very well with other small dogs and cats, but he seems unsure when it comes to large dogs.
If you are interested in adopting Pablo, please email us at [email protected]. If you’d like to donate to Pablo’s extensive medical bill, our Venmo is -vetrescue.

Meet Lucky. He is an approximately 5 year old male, neutered Terrier mix.
From his owners:
“Lucky was adopted in 2021. We learned that he had some negative, insecure behaviors stemming from an abusive environment that was not disclosed to us. We worked with a trainer to correct his leash reactivity, reduce resource guarding, and build his confidence. He has improved significantly and has been a wonderful companion.

Lucky thrives in a calm environment where he can be his energetic terrier self without the competition for attention and unexpected moments that can occur with children and other pets in the home. He thrives on consistency, calm, and a healthy dose of attention. He is crate trained and does not have separation anxiety. His perfect owner scenario would be a single person/couple dedicated to daily exercise and skill learning who also has an understanding of dog behavior.

Lucky does have a bite history due to incorrect dog handling. Given that dogs with bite histories are difficult to rehome, we are willing to provide all of his items (bed, toys, treats, etc.), plan a meet and greet and one week trial run, and financially support a training session in order to build trust with new owners. We use Adriana at Georgia Dog Trainer, and we love her! Unfortunately, he is not thriving with the unpredictability of a baby in the house. The constant noise and movement is overwhelming to him. At this time, we cannot keep up with the training needed to keep him happy and establish a positive relationship with our son. While it will be hard work to rehome him with the right person/people, it is the only way to keep everyone happy and safe. He deserves it.”

Email us at [email protected] if you are interested in Lucky

We are absolutely heartbroken over the loss of our sweet Ghost. Sunday morning he was unable to use his back legs and we think he had a blood clot in his aorta going to his rear legs. We had to make the difficult decision to say goodbye as he was no comfortable and his chance of recovery was very slim.
Ghost has been a fighter since he came to the rescue 9 years ago. He has put a smile on so many people’s faces when he would greet them at the door of the animal hospital and everyone he met was a friend to him. He was very paternal, always cuddling with new litters of kittens who came into the rescue and keeping them warm.
Ghost was the sweetest little boy even when he was receiving daily medications for his chronic URI. He loved getting head scratches, stinky wet food, and taking naps in sun beams.
Ghost was very loved while he was here and will be missed by many ❤️❤️

Meet George
George is an adorable 4 month old Labrador/ Pitbull mix. He was brought to the rescue from a bad situation where he was not receiving the attention or care he deserved.
He is an extremely sweet boy and has gotten along with all of our current rescue dogs. He loves everyone he meets.

He already knows how to sit and he is very smart so I anticipate training will be a breeze.
George loves lounging in the sun and hanging out with his doggy friends. He loves food a lot so he is always anticipating his next meal time and very appreciative of any treats he gets.
George is already house-trained and has done a very good job of not having accidents inside so far.
He has already been neutered and is up to date on his vaccines.

He came in after he had a wire wrapped around his leg which caused some swelling and bruising. We had him on anti-inflammatory medication and he will make a full recovery. He is back to using his leg like normal and you could never tell anything was wrong to begin with.

George has been given a clean bill of health and is ready to go to his forever home!
If you are interested in adopting or fostering George, please reach out to us at [email protected] or call us at 706-548-2233. Just a reminder, we are open from 9-5 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Feel free to stop by to meet him!
