Krysta's Pampered Pups

Krysta's Pampered Pups 1996 Graduate of the Central Academy of Dog Grooming, Moberly, MO. Krysta's Pampered Pups was started in 2009, in the garage of my home.

Permanently closed.

It quickly outgrew the space and we moved to a larger, more accessible building. I offer a full service, dog grooming salon. I am a 1996 graduate of The Central Academy of Dog Grooming, Moberly, MO. I also take unrequired yearly classes and attend grooming shows, to keep my skills fresh and new. I treat your pet with the love and respect that they deserve. My goal is to make my salon a happy place for your pup and to ensure that they have a good experience while in my care.

Sad news everyone- As of next Friday, Feb. 25, I will be closing my grooming business. It has not been an easy decision, but one that is best for me and my family. I am desperately going to miss each and every one of you. I thank you for all your support through the years and for allowing me to be a part of your puppies lives. This business has always been my dream, but now it is time to move on to the next chapter of my life. It's definitely going to be a rough next few weeks. I've been blessed with the best clients and the sweetest dogs. I'd appreciate all your thoughts and prayers as I take on my next endeavor. Again, thank you all for everything, it will never be forgotten.😢❤️

I got some phone issues here today. The phone company is "aware" of the problem. Hope it's fixed soon thanks for your patience. ❤️

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and many of us want to share the great food on the table with our pets. We'd like to offer a quick reminder of safe food treats for dogs and those to avoid.

***Clarification for the questions on ham and mashed potatoes: ham is not recommended to salt, fat, and heavy preservatives. Can lead to gastroenteritis. Mashed potatoes are okay in their bare form, but when fats are added and heavy creams, it can lead to pancreatitis.

EASY DIY TOOTHPASTE RECIPE!
We all grossly underestimate the power of oral hygiene. But the science is clear: oral health plays into everything about us. When our pets’ mouths and gums are clean and free of infection, we reduce their risk for dangerous inflammation that can affect their whole body.

Beginner’s Tip: If you’ve never worked on cleaning up your dog’s mouth, using this blend of ingredients from your kitchen is an easy place to start. Baking soda is a safe abrasive that helps remove plaque, and coconut oil has innate antimicrobial properties. Using gauze, a cotton round or a soft cloth, massage the mixture onto a tooth, starting with your dog’s upper molars (where most plaque accumulates). By cleaning one tooth a day you can desensitize your dog to the teeth polishing process and minimize stress.

You’ll find more recipes and tips to help you make healthier choices in The Forever Dog book, available for pre-order now: foreverdog.com/get-it-now/

Despite the Poodle’s association with France, the breed originated as a duck hunter in Germany, where the word “pudelin” refers to splashing in water. The Standard Poodle began its development as a retrieving water dog more than 400 years ago. With a crisp, curly coat as protection against the elements, superlative swimming ability, and off-the-charts intelligence, the Poodle was, and still is, a magnificent retriever. (The Standard and Miniature varieties are classified as a non-sporting dog and are eligible for AKC Retriever and Spaniel Hunting Tests).

The flamboyant Poodle show coat served a practical purpose in the breed’s early years. Hunters wanted their dogs to have free range of movement in the water, but they also wished to protect vital areas of the anatomy from the cold. They shaved the legs, neck, and tail but left the chest, hips, and leg joints coated. The rounded tufts on the legs, hips, and tail tip are called pompons. (Note the spelling: Cheerleaders have pom-poms; Poodles have pompons.)
