Our first Homeschool With Horses session is winding down. We covered a LOT but some of the best topics were observation and interpretation of horse body language, learning horse parts, and of course some basic riding.

Full Board ($1000):

⭐️ Hay fed 3-4x/day in slow feed nets to promote digestion

⭐️ Hot/cold wash stall, grooming stall, and crossties throughout the aisles

⭐️ Indoor/outdoor arenas
⭐️ Rider lounge with full bathroom

Semi-Rough Board ($800):

Homeschool with Horses at Rockland Farm!

Join us at Rockland Farm in Colchester, CT for a six week class on all things horse 🐴

Sessions run 6 weeks each season on Mondays from 11am-12:30 Start date is 9/16/24.

Cost is $250 per participant/minimum of 4 participants maximum of 10. Suggested age is 7-12.

Curriculum will follow National 4H Giddy Up and Go guide, and will include hands on as well as classroom type learning, projects and handouts, and homework to share with group. Please note that one week is devoted to actual riding. The majority of this class will be hands-on interactive, but out of the saddle.

‼️ Lesson Program Students: Please be advised with the expected heat this week your lesson may very well be unmounted! We have plenty of things we can still learn while keeping everyone safe and cool 😊

Training horses will be ridden very early in the morning, at night, or may end up with a few days off. ‼️

We have a few positions opening up:

•Monday AM+PM barn help at Rockland Farm in Colchester. Up to 12 horses, competitive pay. Possibility of extra days if it’s a good fit.

AM duties (7:30am start, approx. 5-6 hours)
-feeding
-turnout/blanket changes as needed
-stalls
-water buckets
-filling hay nets
-sweeping aisle
-feeding lunch hay

PM duties (3:00pm start, approx 2 hours)
-turn horses in
-feed grain/check haynets
-check waters
-change blankets as needed
-make grain for AM

Candidate must have reliable transportation and confidently be able to lead horses in and out independently.

•Beginner Lesson Instructor - Friday evening/Saturdays (may be flexible for right candidate). Opportunity for more days as program grows.
-must be reliable
-at least 18 years old
-comfortable working with both kids and adults
-h/j as well as dressage experience a plus
-possibility of riding opportunities for the right person
