Two pits were picked up on the south edge of Union City on Saturday. One is male grey with a little white. This dog looks a little younger that the other. The second dog is a tan brindle male and is a little over weight. Both dogs were easy to handle and are waiting for the owner and are currently at the Branch County Animal Control in Coldwater.

This is the vehicle that was used to drop off the lab at Animal Control over the last weekend. If someone recognizes the vehicle, please ask them to contact us. We need to know that he was not taken from someone other than who left him here; because that has been done before. We appreciate all of the concern that has been expressed by everyone. He is doing well!

We have not yet been contacted by the person that left this fella here. We do need her to contact us so that we can determine if she was the owner or just found him. This determines how long he has to stay in Animal Control before he can be transferred to a group that can help get him placed into a good home. If she doesn't contact us by tomorrow, we will release her picture so that someone can identify her for us. We are NOT trying to shame anyone. We appreciate someone bringing him here to keep him safe, and we all have the responsibility to keep the fur kids safe. But we need to have some questions answered before we can continue doing what is right for this guy.

This good boy was left in Animal Control's outdoor temporary kennels Saturday February 24th. Since the Sheriff's Office business office and Animal Control were closed, we did not know that he was in there until Monday morning, as he is a very calm boy that doesn't bark. He was left with a harness and a 6 foot leash. We are asking that the person who left him please call Animal Control at 517-639-3210 and explain the situation to us. And yes, there is very good video.

We lost a dog tonight near arbogast and M60. Last seen 6pm Sunday (today) no tags. Small 5 lb white and tan male chihuahua. He has no teeth so cannot bite. He will lay down when you come near. His name is Jack. The police have been notified he is missing.

Mission

The mission of the Branch county Animal Control is to strive to improve the quality of life and safety for both humans and animals by protecting and serving the residents of Branch County. This will include the enforcing of state and county laws as well as promoting and providing when possible, education on pet care and responsibility. We will also provide a safe environment in the Branch county Animal Shelter for the holding of strays for both Branch and Hillsdale counties.

The Branch County Animal Control Facebook fan page was created by the Sheriff's Office to facilitate the exchange of information with the public at large. To promote such exchange the department encourages and welcomes postings and comments from the general public about issues related to law enforcement in the Branch County area. With that said, however, the Sheriff's Office reserves the right to regulate the content of, and where necessary delete completely, any objectionable entry that appears on its fan page. The Branch County Sheriff's Office is responsible for monitoring all postings to its page and may take appropriate action whenever necessary, and at its sole discretion, to protect other fan page visitors from inappropriate or otherwise harmful information and links.
