Sheep Trivia-A group of sheep is called a Flock. Most sheep prefer to stay in close proximity to one another. It is a survival instinct, that helps protect them from predators. We notice that there is usually a lead sheep, that the flock takes cues from. We always check on a sheep, that is off on its own. Most of the time, they are sick or getting close to lambing.

Not in the mill today…🥶 but picked and carded a lot of dryer ball wool over the weekend.

We make a lot of dryer balls this time of year. The carder is a workhorse, it never lets me down. It is in need of a good cleaning, though. Maybe this weekend…

Adding recycled Sari Silk to wool happens at the carding machine. I love the pips of color and texture it adds to the wool.

How much wool can you fit in an Expedition? More than 180 pounds! Did a local wool pick up yesterday-future roving and yarn 🤎

Mike found this gem on the east coast, sitting in someone’s barn. It’s a Davis & Furber wool picker. It has been part of the mill from the beginning. The picker separates and opens up the wool locks, preparing it for the carding machine.

Processed a Tunis fleece from our flock this week. I enjoy working with Tunis wool, it always cards up nicely 🧡
