Western Colorado Agriculture Resource Center Inc. is a non-profit corporation located in Collbran Colorado. Our mission is to provide opportunities for all who are interested in all aspects related to agriculture. Our goal is facilitate the promotion of, and education about, agriculture by identifying the needs, information and statistics relevant for any successful agricultural related venture. O
ur intention is to also provide financial information to aid in the promotion, education, and technology of agriculture, while maintaining its traditional and cultural values. Our desire is to develop a facility to support individual and group activities such as raising livestock, community gardens, research and development of hay crops, Boy Scout/Girl Scout camps, FFA and 4-H livestock production and horticulture, water conservation and wetlands development etc. We plan to utilize programs which promote agriculture such as the “Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food program. This program has been embraced by the USDA’s Collbran Job Corps, and we would like to band with them and assist in providing those individuals with a place and resources to continue to develop and expand their participation and knowledge in today’s agriculture. It is imperative that we educate those lacking knowledge in agriculture as well as assist those who live it. In today’s economic climate, it is getting increasingly difficult to pursue a life in livestock production and farming which involves all of the other components; welding, mechanics, hydrology, veterinary science, nutrition, dairy etc. We must adapt to this new era of agriculture. People are hungry for advice, education and financial direction that will avail success in agriculture. Unless one inherits the land and equipment, they cannot make farming profitable. Unless one inherits the land and cattle, livestock production is impossible. But, if we can work together and pool our knowledge, we can develop our interests and acquire financial resources until we can assist those interested in becoming producers and fulfill their dreams by becoming necessary components of the agriculture community.
