College Hills Veterinary Hospital was established in January 1994 and is owned by Dr. Kim Stewart, a 1989 graduate from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Lori Smith and Dr. Elizabeth Mahoney joined the practice in 2013. We are a fully equipped veterinary clinic and Veterinary Hospital in College Station, TX. We now have state of the art laser surgery to decrease the ris

k of infection, control intra-operative bleeding and decrease the post surgical discomfort in our patients. Our mission at College Hills is multifaceted. First, we will provide excellent medical and surgical care to our animal patients throughout all stages of their lives by offering health care based on each pet's individual needs. Secondly, we will take the time to educate you, the client, in choosing, training and caring for your pet. We believe that communication is the foundation to a solid doctor-patient-client-relationship. Together we can help you experience the power of the human-animal bond by creating a quality owner-pet relationship that will last a lifetime. Third, we actively support the education of tomorrow's veterinarians via participating in career education presentations in College Station elementary schools and the CSISD Job Shadow Program for the middle school and junior high students; mentoring 4H students pursuing their veterinary assistant accreditation; the work study program for Texas A&M undergraduates and externships for senior veterinary students. Finally, veterinary medicine is more than a career, it is a calling. It is truly a privilege to work in this time honored profession and to be entrusted with the care of your beloved companion. We will preserve and protect the human-animal bond, that very thing that led us here in the first place.

These extraordinary animals play crucial roles in the lives of countless individuals, providing not only practical assistance but also offering companionship, emotional support, and, in some cases, saving lives. At College Hills Veterinary Hospital, we deeply value the work these canine heroes do, and we are proud to share our own experience with Dr. Kim Stewart’s service dog, Seamus, highlighting the impact service dogs have on the community.

Taking a walk with your dog is one of life’s great pleasure. Local businesses have embraced the fact that dogs are showing up in public venues by providing communal water bowls-but BEWARE!
Communal water bowls offer more than just hospitality.
The doctors College Hills Veterinary Hospital recommend bringing a collapsible water bowl on your outings so your dog can share in the sites but not the contagions in the communal water bowls!

When taking your dog for a walk during the summer heat, it may be tempting to allow your dog a few laps from the nearest drinking station in order to cool off. However, shared hydration sources can potentially have dire effects for your beloved furry friend.

Dr. Lori Teller takes the guesswork out of safety and potential risk factors associated with public water bowls: https://ow.ly/FLyX50SWcWM

During hot weather, dogs and cats are susceptible to heatstroke, a life-threatening condition where their body temperature rises to dangerous levels. High humidity increases this risk by hindering their ability to cool down through panting. Heatstroke can cause organ failure, brain damage, and even death if not treated promptly. It is essential to be aware of the signs and symptoms of heatstroke in dogs and cats so that you can take immediate action if necessary.

College Hills Veterinary Hospital

Inviting a new animal into your home is a special experience. Adopting can be a big responsibility, though, and we’re here to help you with your new pet. We believe in taking the time to educate, and we love working with college students, helping them become responsible pet owners. We also take the time to answer questions and concerns while discussing variable treatment options. We have vaccine plans for puppies and kittens. And as your companion gets older, we celebrate seniors with biannual exams and blood work, making their golden years truly golden. We even help with diet management and fitness to keep cats and dogs energetic and healthy. We got into this kind of work because of the compassion we have for animals, and we're eager to treat you and your animals like a part of our family.
