Save $50 on dental cleanings in November!

If your dog is more than 3 years old, they likely have periodontal disease. Studies show that at least 80% of dogs over the age of 3 have some component of periodontal disease. It’s worse in smaller breeds, and the incidence increases with age.

Successful prevention of periodontal disease requires both daily brushing at home and regular professional veterinary cleanings.

Preventing periodontal disease is important for your dog’s overall health, as it has been linked to liver and heart disease. Besides, periodontal disease is painful, even if your dog doesn’t seem to show signs of pain.

Pawing/rubbing at the mouth, drooling, decreased appetite, taking longer to finish meals, change in eating habits (carrying food away from the bowl and dropping it on the floor before eating it), mouth odor, bleeding from the mouth, reluctance to chew favorite chew toys, aggressive behavior or withdrawal from the family are all indicators your pet's mouth is painful and disease is likely.

The Kelsey Canine Medical Center opened its doors on May 14, 2007, as the fulfillment of the dream of owner Dr. Carr Kelsey to establish a veterinary practice dedicated solely to dogs. After practicing veterinary medicine in Collierville for more than eight years, Dr. Kelsey decided to turn his focus to providing the best possible medical care for man’s best friend, and Kelsey Canine has been “Where Dogs Rule” ever since! We are one of only a few canine-exclusive practices in the country, and the only one locally. We pride ourselves on enhancing the lives of canines, so they may enrich the lives of those who love them.
