Healing Paws Animal Hospital is proud to announce that our very own Rachel A. Lewis, DVM will be starting this Monday, June 17th. Please help us in extending a warm welcome to Dr Lewis. Our new cat only rooms are finally finished and will be ready for all our Feline “Friends of the Paw” starting Monday June 17th. Thank you to all our clients for your patience during the construction process. 🐾🐾

We are so blown away by Halen’s rehab journey that we couldn’t keep it to ourselves! We first met Halen following an injury that required surgery in order for her to have a chance to walk again. Halen couldn’t move her back legs and was limited to a wheelchair at her first appointment with us. After extensive rehabilitation consisting of acupuncture, laser therapy, electrical stimulation, strengthening exercises, and underwater treadmill therapy she gained enough strength to walk without assistance.

We are so proud of Halen’s determination and her owners dedication to Halen’s care. Both of their hard work paid off immensely. Halen quickly stole all of our hearts and though bittersweet we are proud to announce that Halen has officially graduated from rehab! In honor of her graduation she walked down our hall unassisted to the graduation marching song! We love you Halen!

As you know, we have construction going on at The Paw. Not only are we constructing new exam rooms, we are also getting a new practice management software system. The software training is next week so “bear” with us as we are learning the new system. We will have reduced appointment availability while we are transitioning to the new system. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

The construction crew has been extra busy this weekend. Buddy, Relish and everyone worked hard to construct the new cat exam rooms and the new small dog exam room. Though the kitty rooms won’t be fully finished this week, green room is taking shape and can accommodate our furry friends starting tomorrow. 🐾🐾

It’s been a while since Buddy & Relish’s last construction update. That’s not because they’ve been hanging out in rocking chairs all day but more because they’ve been getting dirty with the parking lot expansion and internet enhancements here at the PAW. Our friends at AT&T were willing to provide Buddy & Relish with a hands-on inspection of our internet upgrades. 🐾

We recently had a couple of rehab graduates! They put in the hard work and reached their goals! We are proud of the pups and their parents during this ruff journey!

The upstairs construction project is progressing. Buddy, Relish and the construction crew took last week off due to the snow but they are working hard this week. The insulation (the stuffing according to Buddy and Relish) is done and the dry wall is in progress. Next week is all about painting.

PAW Construction Update curtesy of Buddy and Relish:

First off, they would like to apologize for all the noisy ruckus they have been causing. The plumbers are pushing hard to get the new upstairs bathroom ready. Buddy and Relish are measuring twice and inspecting all the fittings and fixtures. If you hear noise above the reception area when you are visiting the PAW, just know Buddy and Relish and the construction crew are working hard. 🐾🐾

Happy Thanksgiving Eve!

Just a friendly reminder: Healing Paws Animal Hospital will be closed on Thursday, November 23, 2023. We will resume normal business hours on Friday, November 24, 2023. If your pet is in need of emergency care, please reach out to Memphis Veterinary Specialists and Emergency at (901) 624-9002 or Animal Emergency Center at (901) 323-4563.

In the meantime, keep your pets safe during this holiday season with this simple reminder. While those big, loving eyes are starring back at you begging for a bite, just remember not all human foods are good for them to consume. Here is a list of a few items that you definitely want to stay away from.

It’s “Shocking” what’s happening with the construction here at the PAW.

Buddy and Relish are helping SCL Electric with the buildout upstairs. They are studying the plans and trying not to get electrocuted.

The Healing Paws elves have been busy preparing for Christmas. Drs Herr and Laros spent the afternoon making our famous peanut butter dog treats for our patients’ Christmas presents. Any doggy patients that would like a present can come by during the month of December.

Buddy and Relish are back at it here at Healing Paws. Phase 2 Construction is officially underway!! We are finishing off the upstairs (yes we do have an upstairs 😊) so that we can have additional exam rooms for all our fur babies.

Buddy and Relish will keep everyone updated with the progress just like when we built the clinic. They are already making new friends. A big thank you to CMS HVAC for all the hard work today. 🐾🐾

Good morning to all our ghost's and ghoul's!

It's important to remember that those tasty Halloween treats can be toxic to pets. These include:

🎃Chocolate
🎃Sugar-free candies or gums containing xylitol
🎃Raisins
🎃Candy Corn
🎃Macadamia Nuts
🎃Walnuts
🎃Caffeine

Signs of a toxicity vary from pet to pet, depending on the type and amount of candy or treat. Signs to look for:

🦇Vomiting
🦇Diarrhea
🦇Seizures/Tremors
🦇Increased body temperatures
🦇Restlessness
🦇Excessive thirst
🦇Rapid breathing or panting
🦇Muscle Rigidity
