She's not really thrilled that I do this, but I love that she has the opportunity to get back a little bit of the love that she’s put out into the world over the years. February has arrived so the store has made it another year. For now 43 years and 2 generations, we remain grateful for everyone that has supported us over the years.

The older I get, the more I appreciate what my mom has built here and the standards she has set. Day in and day out, treating customers like friends, loving pets, and being honest above all. Every single day.

She did that because to her there is no other way. And I grew up here seeing that there should be no other way. I am incredibly lucky that I get to chip in and do the work so we stay the course.

So let’s be clear: we know firsthand how important pets are. To us, that means we do the work to find the best products and offer the most honest prices. From 1982 to 2025 and on to the future

If you don’t own a dog but there’s one on your Christmas list, please read this. And if you are a dog owner, please share this with the people that might be shopping for your dog.

If you don’t own a dog I understand that shopping for one can be intimidating. That’s why it’s important to choose a store you can trust with knowledgeable employees that are there to answer any questions you have. And trust me, the big box stores are neither.

I had the misfortune of shopping at the local big box store this morning and happened to see this. I cannot believe that stores are still selling products like this in 2024. At this point, even people that don’t own dogs know that rawhide is bad. You’ll notice they’ve chosen to call it “beefhide” instead. Unfortunately that doesn’t make it any safer. This is very poor quality “beefhide” at that and is made in Cambodia of all places.

We didn’t sell products like this in the 1980s because they were low quality and unfit for our store then. It’s 2024 now. This isn’t some knowledge I’ve gained by being in this business since I was 2. This is common knowledge for anyone in the pet industry (and a lot of people that just love dogs in general). The buyers that order these products know what they are. And they don’t care.

Pets deserve better than that. We all do. We all work too damn hard to spend our money with people that don’t care.
