We are excited to announce that we have wrapped up construction on our new building. We will be moving all of our computers over next weekend and as long as we do not have any technological road blocks, we will be opening the new building for in-person appointments starting June 10th!

If you still prefer curb-side service or if your pet does better with no other pets or people in the building, please just let us know as we can still utilize our current clinic for these types of appointments!

Can't wait to have you all back in the building!

Everyone meet Bella! We are looking for the perfect, forever home for this sweet girl. She was found last week and brought into the clinic. After locating the original owner and speaking with her, she had decided she would like us to find Bella a new home. Bella is approximately 4-6 years old. Bella needs to go to a home WITHOUT children. She has been a little grumbly while in her kennel (almost like she is guarding her "safe" place) however, we have been working with her for the last several days and with treats and the proper reinforcement she is making improvements. She loves going outside for walks and loves sitting on someone's lap and enjoys human interaction. We are unsure of how she does with other animals, but so far she has shown no negative behavior towards them. Please help us find this girl a wonderful, loving home!

We were able to snuggle this sweet little Australian Shepherd litter today from TimberRidge Goldens & Aussies ! Our vet tech, Jessie, has done a wonderful job raising this litter!

We have had several questions about the status of the new "respiratory illness" that has been affecting dogs throughout the United States. Attached below is the most recent update from the state veterinarian.

To ensure that your pet is as protected as possible, please ensure that they are up to date on recommended vaccinations. Avoiding areas with high populations of dogs (dog parks, pet stores, etc) , if possible, can also prevent your pet from contracting respirtatory illnesses.

Symptoms of this new respiratory illness include coughing, difficulty or rapid breathing, wheezing, dehydration, fever, nasal or eye discharge, weight loss, loss of appetite and lethargy.

If your pet starts showing any symptoms of illness, try to isolate them from other pets in your house and contact a veterinary clinic immediately.

As Taylor Swift would say.... "Are you ready for it?"

All of us at the clinic have been ready for it since 2019. Our new building is almost finished! Once we finish the floors, trim, front desk and bathroom, we will finally be ready to kiss curbside service goodbye forever (unless anyone would like to continue utilizing this service, we would be happy to accommodate patients that do better without mom and dad in the exam room!).

Thank you to our wonderfully loyal clients who have stuck with us during this build --- we outgrew our 1 exam room clinic about a year after initially opened, which forced us to continue curbside long after Covid restrictions were lifted. We hate curbside service just as much as you all, we just physically did not have the space to accommodate more than a few people in the clinic at once.

Now some of you may be thinking....a new building, new space, new stuff? That comes with a cost right? Well, to us yes, but the entire reason it took so long to build was because we did 80% of the work ourselves. The good part? Your pet's yearly exam is still $30. This is the same as when we first opened. A rabies vaccine is still $11. This is the same as when we first opened. The entire reason it took so long to build was to ensure that our costs did not have to be passed on to accommodate the build cost. Obviously the price of everything in the world is increasing, but we will continue to try to keep our prices low to serve our clients as best as we can!

We cannot wait to show you around. We do not have an exact open date just yet, but we are extremely close and wanted to give you an update! Stay tuned in the following weeks for another update!

Effective 4/24/2023:
Due to an increase in fees from our credit card company, a 2.5% fee (of the total visit invoice) will be added to all invoices paid with credit/debit cards. This is ONLY for invoices being paid with credit/debit cards. Invoices paid with cash or check will have no additional credit card processing fees added. For example, if you bill totals $100, an additional $2.50 will be added to your bill to cover processing fees if you pay with credit/debit card.

RABIES TAG NOTE:
Just a reminder, if paying for your rabies tag with credit/debit card, the Vermilion County Animal Control charges $1.50 fee at time of registration, in addition to your tag fee. THIS FEE DOES NOT GET PAID FOR THROUGH THE CLINIC, but separately, so you will have two separate charges on your credit/debit card (one through Middlefork Veterinary Clinic and one through Vermilion County Animal Control’s website). The county tag fee goes directly through the Vermilion County Animal Control website, which is completely separate from your veterinary bill. We will process this registration through the Vermilion County Animal Control’s website at the time of your check out. As always, it is mandatory through the county that a tag be issued at the time of rabies vaccination in order to be registered with them. If you pay with cash or check, there will be no additional $1.50 card processing fee in addition to your tag fee.

For example, if you pay with credit/debit card for your $11 neutered canine rabies tag, the Vermilion County Animal Control website will charge you an additional $1.50 processing fee, totaling your tag fee to $12.50. If you pay with cash or check for your $11 neutered canine rabies tag, there will be no additional $1.50 processing fee, totaling your tag fee to the original $11.

IF you have any questions about the 2.5% credit card processing fee through our clinic, please contact us. We are just as unhappy about it as most of you will be. IF you have any questions about Vermilion County Animal Control’s tag fees, please contact the Vermilion County Animal Control directly .
