Chernaya Voda Borzoi Chernaya Voda is a Colorado based Borzoi kennel. Our focus is to ensure correct forms and temperaments for show and pet homes.

Purposeful in everything; which includes careful selection of breeding, and extensive health testing with the goal of bettering the breed. We hold ourselves to the highest standard when it comes to our dogs and policies. We do not breed for quantity, but quality behind every dog.

A spectacular Valentine’s Day/weekend!! 🥰🥰
We thoroughly enjoyed the theme of 'red and white'!

On Friday we attended the Colorado Kennel Club show, and under Judge Claudia Miller, Anfisa was Opposite behind her brother Cadence, who went BOB. On Saturday was the RMBC Specialty Show under Judge Robin Hug. Anfisa once again placed Best of Opposite, and BOBOH, and Nochka was awarded Select Dog in a quality line up. In the Owner Handler group Anfisa walked away with an OHG3. Sunday had a judge change, and we showed to Judge Robert Frost. Under Judge Frost, Anfisa placed Best of Opposite, and BOBOH! This girl was on fire and made sure red was her color!!! Nochka, and Lucky Strike both made the final cut, but ultimately Lucky Strike received an Award of Merit. We are thankful to all of our judges this weekend, and all of the compliments we received. It was great seeing friends once again after our winter show break!

Today at the Lonestar Borzoi Club Specialty Show in Glen Rose, TX, Under Breeder Judge Leonore Abordo, Nochka received the 1st Award of Merit in the line up.

Texas never disappoints with the quality of their dogs, and today that rang true. Counts were 4-9 8-5 (Showed: 4-8 8-5). These numbers included exhibits and their exhibitors, who we know very well and do not have the pleasure of competing against often. Regardless of who was in the ribbons, this group of people always keep it lively and do their best to support one another.

As 2024 comes to a close, we would like to take a look back at our wins throughout the year:

Lucky Strike received 5 AOMs at Specialties this year, SBOS, and UKC RBIS.

Nochka was Winners Dog x3, Best of Winners x1, and BISS/OHBOB!

Anfisa was Best in Sweepstakes x3, Best of Opposite in Sweepstakes x4, Winners Bitch x4, Best of Winners x 3, and an AOM! All under 18 months old!!
(Currently #35 All-Breed Borzoi 🎉🎉)

Let's hope 2025 has even more in store!!

Anfisa, CH Kyrov-Horse and Hound One Moment In Time, was BOB/BOBOH x3, and a Group 4 under Judge Christie Martinez, this weekend at the Southern Colorado Kennel Club shows.

This is our last AKC show of the year, and being able to exhibit Anfisa since she has become a Champion has been a dream come true! At 15months old it seems like each day gets better and better with her. Each new obstacle is tackled head on, all while being the sweet girl she is and taking time to meet others. Anfisa will take some time now to grow, gain muscle, and thrive with her boys until the spring.

Turquoise Trail Borzoi Club Independent Specialty Show(s) are in the books and what a wild ride it was!

On Saturday under Sweepstakes Judge Krista V. Hunt DVM, Anfisa, CH Kyrov-Horse and Hound One Moment In Time, was awarded Best of Opposite in Sweepstakes.

Under Breeder Judge Dr Anne Midgarden, Nochka, CH Prairie View St. Patrick's Black Gold JC BCAT, was awarded BOB/BOBOH, and Lucky Strike, GCH CH Prairie View Shamrock BCAT, was given an Award of Merit.

Nochka is now known as: BISS CH Prairie View St Patrick's Black Gold JC BCAT

On Sunday, Under Sweepstakes Judge Joyce Law, Anfisa was Best of Opposite in Sweepstakes. Under Judge Michael Savage, Anfisa given an Award of Merit in a packed line up. With Anfisa only being 14months old, and TTBC being her first specialty weekend as a new Champion, I am beyond proud of this accomplishment and oh so very excited for her future! We will have one last AKC show this year and after that she will take some time to grow up here at CV.

Our second to last AKC show of the year has come to an end. At the Colorado Springs Kennel Club, under Judge Robert E. Hutton, Anfisa went BOB/BOBOH, and a Hound Group III. Under Judge Hal T. Biermann, Nochka was Select Dog, and Anfisa was BOB/BOBOH again, and received another Group III placement in a quality packed line up. Of this group selection I was the only Owner Handler, in a line up of Professional Handlers. On Sunday, Under Judge Christopher Tilghman Neale, Anfisa went Best of Opposite, and Nochka was Select Dog.

These are my first regular group AKC placements, and I shed many happy tears over this accomplishment. We have had our Owner Handler placements, but Colorado boasts some REALLY quality dogs.

On Friday Anfisa beat 41 hounds with her Group III.
On Saturday Anfisa beat 47 hounds with her Group III.

Words can't express how PROUD I am of this 14month old! I've been taking her to shows only as a way of getting used to the sights, and sounds of indoor dog shows, and she has gone above and beyond that!

Anfisa is now: Multiple Group Placing CH Kyrov-Horse and Hound One Moment In Time!! 🥰

Arapahoe Kennel Club, along with the first AKC NOHSR event was this weekend. Saturday morning was the Regional event, with a total of 267 exhibitors. Arapahoe Kennel Club is/was the first club AKC selected for these Owner Handler events. There was an entire application process and review in order to be selected for any of the events. Overall it was a spectacular event that was run beautifully by the club members. In general Colorado has a lot of great dogs, but being able to look out and see the smiles between the owners and their dogs, it was fantastic and definitely something I will remember for a long time. Congratulations again to Arapahoe Kennel Club for hosting the event and paving the way for future events!! Ms. Pamela S. Lambie was our NOHSR judge, with 4 borzoi exhibitors in total. Cadence, who is owned by Amy Sorbie and Pamela Buffington, also Anfisa's half brother, was the winner! He is the first borzoi to win one of these this events at the breed level, (He did get a Group placement too!!) and let me say those are big shoes to fill!! Not to be outdone, Anfisa received A LOT of compliments, including some sweet words from a couple of AKC Delegates! They expressed how beautiful she was to watch in the ring.

Following the NOHSR event, we went on to our regularly scheduled all breed show. All weekend Lucky Strike was Select Dog with Ms. Lian as his handler, under Judges Nikki Riggsbee, Rev. Rick Martin, and Joanne M. Buehler. Lucky dog also received many compliments from the judges, which was great after the drought we had last weekend! (I know you can't win them all, but deep down we all want to be greedy!lol)

For Nochka and Anfisa, it was their first time in the ring as Specials! Nochka did not place in the ribbons, but that is okay! The all breed show had health clinics and Nochka had his heart, and eyes done.... and we received the all clear/ Good! Couldn't ask for anything better! 🥰 Anfisa went Best of Opposite to Cadence and received wonderful comments from Rick Martin on Saturday for her first GCH points!

We had a winter storm warning for late Saturday/ early Sunday morning....and you know borzoi! The cold weather had them frisky, and Anfisa was big goofy in the ring on Sunday with Anna at the helm this time. Since she is still learning about this whole 'show dog' thing, we were not worried or disappointed when the class bitch was selected over her and the other special. It is all about having fun and allowing her to be goofy in her youth. Being a Special is hard work!

At the Rocky Mountain Borzoi Club 30th Anniversary Fall Specialty Show under Sweepstakes Judge Phyllis Potter, Anfisa went Best of Opposite to her litter mate, Xavier, who is owned by Pam Buffington and Amy Sorbie. Under Judge Cindy Vogels, Nochka was RWD, Anfisa placed 3rd in the 12-18 month class, and Lucky Strike received no love in BOB.

Since this was a concurrent show with Evergreen Kennel Club, we went into Judge Michael Canalizo's ring where Nochka went WD, and Anfisa went WB/ BW/ BOB/ BOBOH for a 5pt Major over specials!! Under Canalizo they both finished their championship!

Anfisa finished with 3 of her 4 Majors at Specialties.
Nochka finished with 2 of his 4 Majors at Specialties.

On Sunday, September 8th, at the second day of the Rocky Mountain Borzoi Club's 30th Anniversary Fall Specialty Show, Under Sweepstakes Judge Gwen Little, Anfisa went Best in Sweepstakes, with her brother Xavier going Best of Opposite. Under Judge Shirley McFadden, Nochka was WD/BW, Anfisa placed 3rd in her 12-18 month class, and Lucky Strike received an Award of Merit being piloted by his 2nd favorite lady- Lian Chase!

At our final show of the day with the Evergreen Kennel Club, under Judge Dr Donald Sturz Jr, Nochka placed 1st in his class, Anfisa went WB/BW.

On Thursday, August 15th, 2024 at the Rocky Mountain Hound Association Specialty Show under Judge Tracey Luty, Anfisa was Best of Opposite in Sweepstakes. Under Judge Janet M Schwalbe, Nochka was WD, Anfisa was WB/BW, and Lucky Strike was Opposite.

At the Friday Specialty, Under Judge Claudia Miller, Nochka was 1st in the AOH class, Anfisa was WB.

Saturday, at the Greeley Kennel Club show, under Judge Debbie Campbell-Freeman, Nochka was WD/BW, Anfisa was RW.

Sunday under Judge Barbara G. Pepper, Nochka was RW, Anfisa was 1st in her 12-18 month class.

Both Nochka and Anfisa only need 1pt each to finish their championship, and we're hoping it happens at our next show, Evergreen Kennel Club shows/ Rocky Mountain Borzoi Club Specialty, which is also the same day as my late father's birthday.

Anfisa, Kyrov-Horse and Hound One Moment In Time, showcased at the High Plains Kennel Club, a day shy of her 1st birthday.

Saturday and Sunday (July 27th & 28th) were her last 'puppy classes'. Under Judge Karen Hynek, she went BOB and then went on to a Group 4 placement, and under Judge Steven Melgreen, she went BOB and then Group 1!! Unfortunately no love in the BIS ring, but overall a great weekend before my little baby grows up completely. 🥰

This weekend was all about performance! On Saturday, Anfisa attended her first ever puppy bump/ run. Needless to say this girl is hooked! Sunday was for the boys and they attended their first AKC lure coursing event. They both entered for the JC/Qualifying runs...Unfortunately the lure line broke under Lucky Strike's first run and he was not given a Qualifying run. Nochka helped certify a friend of ours Irishwolf Hound, did his first run... but then the club hosting the event decided they would pack up early and we were not able to complete our second run which would have given him his new JC title. #denverborzoi #BlackWaterKennel #CVkennel #borzoi
