Always trying new ideas! Dog training can require quite a few tools in the tool box to be successful.
I was able to back him up with spacial pressure or a hard pressed lure but I couldn't keep replicating the behavior away from me because he wanted to stay close to his reward.
When he would commit to going away he would turn around and make space which wasn't what I wanted either. This way I could keep his face towards me and keep the back up behavior clean!

Mark and move!
This is a big one for a dog who is not comfortable with something.
Instead of blasting to the end result you can build the dog up one step at a time.
I often will mark the event and then allow the dog to immediately create space for their reward until the dog is choosing to go to the spooky location on their own!
Once the dog is comfortable in the location then I can ask for more obedience, time or whatever is next!

Don't let fear stop you!
Often as people we can quickly see fear in a dog and immediately abandon ship.
Most dogs will show a level of fear or suspicion when met with something new.
I encourage you to take the initial reaction as surface level value and just keep moving!
When you stop and dwell in the initial reaction you never make time to just get over it!
If you haven't seen a change for the better in just a few minutes, then it is time to reevaluate!
