Queenie is our featured adoptable cat from Garden of the Cats' rescue of over 20 cats from a bad breeder/hoarding situation on December 7, 2024. Queenie is a munchkin with no tail. She is very tiny and will need gentle care. You can learn more about Queenie and find an application for her adoption on her web page at https://gardenofthecats.com/page36.html

Three kittens taken in the hoarding/backyard breeder rescue situation will be transported to the Omaha area for special veterinary care. These kittens' mother was kept in a cage with another cat, and when she died, she was cannibalized by the other cat for its own survival. No care was ever sought for these kittens, despite their horrible upper respiratory conditions. One foster was unable to resolve the URI so she will be sending the kittens to another foster who has access to a veterinary clinic that is working specifically with these cats. It is our hope that these beautiful, innocent babies will make a full recovery and will eventually make it to our adoption process.

Despite vets' best efforts, Ri gave up the fight to live today. His rescuer was with him when he passed at the clinic and it was overwhelmingly heartbreaking. This poor, once beautiful creature, had only a few days of love in a world of cruelty. He did not know that a wonderful life was just ahead of him. We all hope he will find the peace in his rest. We are sorry, Ri. Humanity failed you.

One of the cats rescued from the hoarding situation we are working. The third picture is what he used to look like. He is currently in the hands of his rescuer. But we are looking for experienced foster parents in and around the Omaha area to help care for 9 cats that still need a foster family for their recovery. Foster parents will work with Garden of the Cats during their recovery until the cats are ready for rehoming. Garden of the Cats will pay for veterinary care and medical supplies and will host the application process for rehoming. Please contact Catherine Rudy at [email protected] or text at 305-333-3186

Garden of the Cats is running a GoFundMe to help rescuers of a horrible hoarding situation. Please donate even the smallest amount to help pay for their veterinary care and recovery expenses. As we continue to work with the rescuers, we will create an adoption wait list.

Hello all,

Just some tidbits of information before we close the Colorado Springs show on Monday evening (April 15, 2024). (Show weekend of April 20-21).

We have some great numbers and have room for more.

We are having a cat costume contest on Saturday, so dress up those kitties for some stress relief. Saturday judges will be the judges of the contest. It went fantastic in Estes Park. We have a first place prize of a Ricardo Santa Cruz lightweight carry-on luggage, a second place prize of a grooming basket, and a third place prize of $25 in raffle tickets.

Since we're getting close to running the catalog, start thinking of converting those placeholders. That's always a stressor for me, trying to get all those placeholders before I push the "Run Catalog" button.

We have a lot of outstanding entry fees yet, so check your confirmation sheet and see if you still have an outstanding balance. You might have forgotten in all the hubbub of life. If you plan to pay at the door, just drop me a message that that is your intention. I don't mind as long as I have a heads up.

Please, please, please check your confirmation sheet (for some, it may be your latest one you received) to make sure all the cats you want are entered, that placeholders are converted, that your cat's information is correct, that the days you want to show are correct, your spacing requirements are correct, and my notes back to you reflect everything you conveyed to me. If there is a discrepancy, get with me before I run the catalog. I can correct most anything.

If you want a printed catalog and you did not put it in the entry remarks, or I did not reflect it back to you in my notes to you, then let me know. We print only a limited amount to save on costs and if you do not tell me you want a catalog, you may not get one. Printed catalogs are $10, and this is to recover their printing cost. We don't make money on them.

I will be emailing exhibitors basic information next week about the show (parking, food, times, etc.). If you are entered in the show and do not get an email from me by Thursday, please let me know. I may have entered your email incorrectly in my mailing list. If you do not get an electronic catalog by Thursday, again, let me know.

Hope to see you guys next weekend.

Just a short note to remind you that you only have two short weeks to decide about coming to our show in Colorado Springs, CO (April 20-21, 2024). We would love to see you and we are open for entries.

The blocked room rate for the Hampton is now over. Sorry. However, there should be great rates still at the MCM Elegante hotel. Use the link on TOES. No Pet Fee.

Another tidbit of information. Our Minuet Breed Seminar for Sunday, April 21, 2024, at noon, has been approved for 2 CEU (continuing education credits). Please join us for an informative class on the Minuet Breed, with example cats.

We will have a cat costume contest on Saturday, around noon, but be ready to get your kitties dressed a little earlier and in the ring for judging. We have a first-place prize of a Santa Cruz Ricardo carry-on luggage--just what everyone needs for going to cat shows. We will have second and third place prizes TBA later.

We still have spaces for the Meet & Greet with your breeds. We currently have spaces locked in for:

Savannahs
Norwegian Forest Cats
Scottish breeds
British breeds
Toygers
Minuets
Sphynx

Would like some more variety, so if you are coming and you would like to bench at a Meet & Greet booth, let me know. If this is the first you're hearing of this, I'll resend the email I posted a few days ago. Basically, you will have your cats at your breed booth and be able to talk to spectators about your breed.

We will have three food trucks: BBQ, German, and Italian. And we just confirmed the Wheel Coffee van, so we will have an assortment of coffees available. If you remember her from our first show in 2019, she's great.

Great show rates. Great hotel rates.

Our sponsored shelter this time is Wild Blue Cats. They will have adoptions with us. Portions of your entry fees will go to them.

We will have a cat costume contest on Saturday, and we're looking into some fantastic prizes. More to follow on that.

I am preparing a breed seminar for the Minuet Breed for Sunday at lunchtime. There will be a breed seminar for the Savannah breed on Saturday.

We have Larry Johnson as our photographer.

And we just confirmed that our beloved local theriogenologist (reproductive specialist), Dr. Brittany Shumack of Village Center Vet, will be with us on Saturday and Sunday and will give talks about general feline health care to the public but will also be available for your reproductive questions.

This show will be packed with a lot of feline education and information. We hope to see you there.
