Seeing clients experience lightbulb moments is something I live for. These are moments when their dog…

- Listens to a cue on the first ask.
- Turns to look at them, “checking in,” on a walk without being asked.
- Turns away quietly instead of barking at a neighbor.
- Goes to lie down in their spot without being asked.
- Sits quietly for pets without jumping.

Those moments when you see the dog first “gets it” without your prompting. Bingo!

They are precious. They are validating that you’re on the right path. You’ve put in the effort, and it’s paying off.

Every dog is capable of achieving these moments. And when we work together, I help you get there and identify these moments.

Dog trainer’s dogs aren’t perfect.

Many clients express embarrassment for how their dogs behave when I come into their homes, but what I want everyone to understand is that I’m not here to judge. I’m here for a reason - to help.

I don’t expect perfection from the start.

Progress over perfection, as they say.

I know it can be scary to have a professional come into your home to help with a difficult situation. What I do expect is that you are honest with me.

Tell me what works for you.
Tell me what works for your family.
Tell me what really truly frustrates you.
Tell me what obstacles you face that might slow or inhibit progress.
Tell me everything about your dog’s history - even if you aren’t proud of it.

We will work together. We are on the same team. We will find the right solutions for you and your family.

And your dog will make progress because of it.

This test can sometimes reduce your insurance premiums, and it shows the world that you’re dog is well trained & has passed multiple tests.

This is an important aspect to consider as you are working with me.

What you may have seen on TV or in other people’s homes may not make sense for you, your dog, and your family.

When we work together, we prioritize training goals that make sense for your unique situation.

It isn’t a cookie cutter approach because what works for one family doesn’t necessarily work for yours.

I take all the strategies and tools in my toolkit and adapt it to your family’s needs.

Tell me in the comments one traditional “rule” for dogs that DOESN’T make sense for yours.

I’ll go first: I don’t require my dogs to take neighborhood walks in a perfect heel.

Why? Because walks should be as much for them as they are for me. My dogs get the opportunity to sniff and explore on our walks. This helps stimulate their minds and enriches their lives. They come back home fully decompressed and take a nice long quiet nap.

This precious Husky mix had a human mom who was so proactive, realizing that some upcoming life changes (a move, another dog at the new place…) would cause Chickpea some stress. She (both of them 😉) graduated from basic training today Chickpea also got some highlights to match her human mom’s hair. (The color is temporary, safe for pets & done by a groomer who they’ve used for awhile.) I think it looks amazing.

As we roll into summer remember that your pup’s paws can burn on the hot sidewalk.

A great tip is to place your palm on the sidewalk for 5 seconds. Too hot for you? It’s too hot for their paws.

You can still get them outdoors by walking only on grass, substituting walk time with playing in the water (more on this to come), or getting booties for them.

We brought our own dog, Mila, to help with socialization. These 2 sweet Huskies were rescued (one just before she would’ve been euthanized.) They’re learning not to react with every dog they see.
