Did you know? Despite the decision of the AKC to call the breed “Miniature American Shepherd,” they are the same dog as the “Miniature Australian Shepherd” and most people use the names interchangeably.

They are tend to be highly intelligent, enthusiastic and devoted to family dogs. They are usually gentle with children and polite to other dogs and cats, especially when they’re raised with them.

Well American Shepherds are often referred to as “a Full-Sized Australian Shepherd in a pint-sized package!” The Mini American Shepherd is a tiny to medium-sized dog breed. Males average 14 to 18 inches in height, while females average 13 to 17 inches. Australian Shepherds are taller and heavier than other breeds. Male Aussies can reach a height of 20 to 23 inches, while females reach a height of 18 to 21 inches.
