There are moments that remind us why we do what we do, and this is one of them. After surviving a traumatic injury in the line of duty, K9 Roam is finally going home. His strength, spirit, and sheer will to heal have touched every heart in our hospital.

We’re incredibly proud of our emergency veterinary team, whose dedication and care helped guide Roam through the toughest days. And we’re deeply thankful to our friends at Mountain View Veterinary Surgery for their life-saving surgical expertise.

Roam’s journey is a testament to perseverance, teamwork, and the power of community. Thank you to the Colorado Springs Police Department for your trust and partnership, we’re honored to stand beside you in support of this heroic pup.

We’ll continue to share updates on Roam’s recovery. For now, we celebrate this beautiful milestone with joy, gratitude, and a whole lot of tail wags.

We are heartbroken yet deeply honored to have been part of the emergency response that saved K9 Roam’s life. Roam was gravely injured in the line of duty, but thanks to the swift coordination between law enforcement and our amazing veterinary team, he pulled through a critical surgery and showed his fighting spirit with a wag of his tail.

This moment reminds us of the extraordinary bond between service animals and their handlers and the power of teamwork in the face of tragedy. Roam, you are our warrior and our prayers are with you and the entire Colorado Springs K9 Unit. 🐾💙

We will continue to share updates on Roam’s recovery. Thank you to everyone who has supported his journey.

Earlier today, CSPD K9 Roam and his handler were dispatched to assist in an incident involving a barricaded suspect. During the encounter, K9 Roam and his officer made contact with the suspect, and in the line of duty, K9 Roam was stabbed multiple times.

He was immediately transported to a local emergency veterinary hospital, where he remains in critical condition and is currently undergoing surgery.

Our hearts are heavy as we stand alongside K9 Roam’s handler and their family during this incredibly difficult time. We ask our community to join us in sending every bit of love, strength, and healing energy to K9 Roam as he bravely fights to recover.

K9 Roam recently joined the Colorado Springs Police Department K9 Unit and has already made an incredible impact, proudly serving as CSPD’s first Certified Gun Detection Dog. His courage, loyalty, and dedication to protecting our community embody the very best of what it means to serve.

The adorable Tyke was discharged recently after being with us for nearly a week. The reason? Parvovirus.

Parvovirus is a deadly disease that we see all too often. You can reduce the chances of your puppy getting Parvovirus by getting your puppy vaccinated as soon as possible.

Thank you Danielle for your wonderful review and for choosing us when it came to Bailey's emergency!

"The staff worked fast to help our girl! They were upfront about everything they were doing so nothing came as a surprise. They stayed in communication with me throughout the process and provided the best care she needed. I can't just choose just one person! Every single person there that looked after, cared for, or even met Bailey was absolutely amazing!!! The entire staff stole both our hearts! Quick decisions about her needs and constant communication"

Thank you Stes for your wonderful review and for choosing us when it came to Kevin's emergency!

"I'm home with my 12 year old dog today and I'm so grateful to be typing this review. My pup is resting after our 3:30AM visit this morning and I want to say how thankful I am that I brought him in to see Dr. Hesse this morning.

I had to wake my toddler up at 2:30 to bring us all in to the vet and I was dreading the experience of managing both the kiddo and the 75 pound dog. We were put into a room very quickly with NETFLIX so my toddler was happy to watch cartoons. This is not a place where I'll ever hesitate to have to bring kids along. They offer snacks and coffee, too, which was great.

Dr. Hesse is so wonderful. She immediately connected with my dog and I felt very confident in her exams and recommendations for diagnosis and treatment. Everything was explained well and I never felt overwhelmed by the information. She made sure we had everything we need to comfortably manage care of our senior dog while he is recovering.

This will absolutely be our go-to for emergency pet care. Thank you all for your kindness and professionalism. Kevin says WOOF, which i think means thank you, even if he didn't like the re**al exam."
