Sunday Funday!!
Check out this hunk โค๏ธ Watch as Abuto enjoys this scent enrichment his keepers made up for him. Different scents can elicit different responses for animals and provide an enriching opportunity to use their sense of smell. If they find something they really like they might want to rub it all over them. Some of the big cats at the zoo prefer strong perfumes and colognes while others love the realllly stinky stuff like elephant poop! ๐ฎ

Sunday Funday!
Goma, our western lowland gorilla enjoyed a frozen Kong treat. Kongs are used all around the zoo for enrichment. In Primate World we see this enrichment bring out natural behaviors in different ways. The Orangutans make and use tools to work on Kongs, the Siamangs take them up high and throw them and the Gorillas use pure strength to bang them. Either way this enrichment is great for encouraging problem solving and natural behaviors to get a nice treat.

Happy Holidays from all of us at AAZK of Cheyenne Mountain Zoo!
One of the great things about conferences is meeting amazing people from other zoos, building connections with them, and then getting to see them in action when you visit!! I had the privilege of meeting Lisa when she came to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and learning that she worked at Disney World which I would be visiting a month later! It was so cool to meet her birds and see how they operate! Iโm still so impressed with the training! Thanks again!
Hello all! Itโs been a while, so hereโs a cute video of our Mexican grey wolves! The pups are getting so big, but this was some of their first snow! โ๏ธ
So, Iโm putting our adorable porcupine, Kale, away after a program and sheโs being cute as always eating her dinner and smacking her lips. Then... I look up and somebodyโs watching us... (I need the proper stalker music in the background. Suggestions?)
This is our Red Footed Tortoise, Timmy, enjoying his salad! No, I donโt have the slow-motion on... ๐
