We had a great time at last weekend!

Danny was third in the mini derby and won two of his classes with Jen! He was a rockstar.

Megan and Ellie showed a lot of improvement through the weekend and was second in her stake class!

Finn wasn’t his best this show but Parker rode really well through it all.

Homie and Anna were amazing and ended up reserve champion in the 18”!

Thank you everyone for a great weekend!

It’s , this week featuring Danny, who I thought would be the perfect feature this week as a memory just popped up in my feed from three years ago where not only did he kill it with his owner in the long stirrups and received reserve champion, but I got to compete him in his first ever little hunter derby and we took home the blue! 💙🩵 Jeniffer Lang Lynch has been working hard to fully take over Danny’s schedule as I am out of riding for a bit, and it is coming together. Getting this guy in front of leg and responsive to aids is essential. He’s a naturally lazy dude so he needs to be reminded to step it up and show up for work, and then he is an absolutely lovely ride! He’s super brave and honest to the jumps and such a blast when he’s forward and connected. They are getting the hang of it without me being able to assist with a couple of training rides a week for the time being. Jen’s getting stronger as a rider and figuring out how to be more accurate and assertive with her aids so that Danny will go along carrying himself in better form. They are a lovely pair!

Hey all! Show season is coming up FAST! Please take a look at the tentative schedule and start picking which ones you would like to attend. For the April shows, depending on baby timeline I’d like to attend one or both. If I’m unable to coach and there is interest, I may call on a guest instructor. I am already working on a plan for Estes and have sent a tentative stabling block request. I really want to be more organized this year with shows and will be asking for deposits along with the commitment to shows a month before said show date (other than April shows this year). Looking forward to a fun season with you all!

Happy everyone! Checking back in with an update on Forest. We’ve made lots of progress over the last couple of weeks, and the clinic was such a good experience for him and his rider! I’m super proud of them. Some key components that we’d been working on that were really driven home at the clinic have clicked for horse and rider. Getting him responsive to the aids, especially forward off the leg and following the rein for flexions, elongating his spine and body eliminating his ability to brace/compress and blow up, are the huge factors that are coming together. That along with the confidence to apply those tools, as well as addressing back pain/saddle fit, and we’re taking big steps forward! Thank you to again for the wonderful clinic and helping us specifically with Forest, and great job to for your hard work with Forest.

Huge thank you to for teaching an amazing clinic over the weekend! You were fantastic and we all are looking forward to having you back! I’m super proud of all of our horses and riders and everyone took a lot away from the experience. Dramatic improvements all around and it was reassuring as a trainer to see that the homework we’re doing is in the right direction. Thank you to everyone that helped make this weekend possible, and big shout out to for bringing a group of clients to support the clinic!

Happy everyone! I have been bad about keeping up with my posts, and I will try to do better! This week, I’d like to say big congratulations to Grace Graves on the lease of Forest! We’re excited to have her on board at to watch them grow together this year!

Training horses has its ups and downs, and though it’s easy to post about the progress, it’s harder to talk about the difficulties. But I believe in the process and that we as trainers shouldn’t be ashamed to discuss all aspects of the process. So, with that being said, we’ve been working through some challenges with Forest. He’s been presenting some “behavioral” issues which we think are really a reaction to some discomfort or pain. After lots of trouble shooting, I think we’ve narrowed it down to saddle fit. We had our awesome rep out today, Bronwen Cheney, and I’m feeling good about her assessment and solution. I’m confident we’re on the right track with Forest.

A big part of training and developing horses is to remember to listen to what they are trying to tell you. It can be so frustrating trying to decipher their hints but it is so crucial to their mental and physical well being and their longevity, especially as a performance horse. Short cuts rarely stand the test of time and it’s worth it to try to remain receptive, to be a horseman first and a rider second. It can be tedious and discouraging, but we should keep that aspect as a top priority.

This would be a great clinic to attend! I will look into details

First show of 2024! Thank you Gold Crest Shows for hosting a nice schooling show, it’s so great to have a chance to get the horses off the property for some practice in the middle of winter! Megan and Ellie competed for their first time together and they learned a lot and showed improvements throughout. They also took the win in their mini medal! Parker and Finn had a good refresher and Parker rode great and had some beautiful rounds. Great job riders!

Happy all my thoroughbred lovers! Today I couldn’t think of a better one to feature than Danny! He’s been a rock star lately. We’ve been working hard on the flat with getting him more supple and relaxed to allow for more fluidity through connection. Lots of flexions and bending, down transitions, work over poles, bounce rails, etc. He’s really getting the hang of it and it’s showing in his over fences work! His owner/rider is getting it down, too. What a great pair and I’m so proud of them and grateful to be a part of their development!
