We had a great time at last weekend!
Danny was third in the mini derby and won two of his classes with Jen! He was a rockstar.
Megan and Ellie showed a lot of improvement through the weekend and was second in her stake class!
Finn wasn’t his best this show but Parker rode really well through it all.
Homie and Anna were amazing and ended up reserve champion in the 18”!
Thank you everyone for a great weekend!
My little assistant! The horses approve!
Back to work with my new sidekick! Logan has been doing really well helping me teach lessons 💞
Reminder for students!! Don’t forget to renew before April 15th!

It’s , this week featuring Danny, who I thought would be the perfect feature this week as a memory just popped up in my feed from three years ago where not only did he kill it with his owner in the long stirrups and received reserve champion, but I got to compete him in his first ever little hunter derby and we took home the blue! 💙🩵 Jeniffer Lang Lynch has been working hard to fully take over Danny’s schedule as I am out of riding for a bit, and it is coming together. Getting this guy in front of leg and responsive to aids is essential. He’s a naturally lazy dude so he needs to be reminded to step it up and show up for work, and then he is an absolutely lovely ride! He’s super brave and honest to the jumps and such a blast when he’s forward and connected. They are getting the hang of it without me being able to assist with a couple of training rides a week for the time being. Jen’s getting stronger as a rider and figuring out how to be more accurate and assertive with her aids so that Danny will go along carrying himself in better form. They are a lovely pair!

Happy day late birthday to sweet little Homie pony! Four years old yesterday. This little guy is such a gem and will make a very fancy show pony for some special kiddo some day!
Yay!! 🙌 Go CHJA and happy to be a part of another feature

Hey all! Show season is coming up FAST! Please take a look at the tentative schedule and start picking which ones you would like to attend. For the April shows, depending on baby timeline I’d like to attend one or both. If I’m unable to coach and there is interest, I may call on a guest instructor. I am already working on a plan for Estes and have sent a tentative stabling block request. I really want to be more organized this year with shows and will be asking for deposits along with the commitment to shows a month before said show date (other than April shows this year). Looking forward to a fun season with you all!

Happy everyone! Checking back in with an update on Forest. We’ve made lots of progress over the last couple of weeks, and the clinic was such a good experience for him and his rider! I’m super proud of them. Some key components that we’d been working on that were really driven home at the clinic have clicked for horse and rider. Getting him responsive to the aids, especially forward off the leg and following the rein for flexions, elongating his spine and body eliminating his ability to brace/compress and blow up, are the huge factors that are coming together. That along with the confidence to apply those tools, as well as addressing back pain/saddle fit, and we’re taking big steps forward! Thank you to again for the wonderful clinic and helping us specifically with Forest, and great job to for your hard work with Forest.
Huge thank you to for teaching an amazing clinic over the weekend! You were fantastic and we all are looking forward to having you back! I’m super proud of all of our horses and riders and everyone took a lot away from the experience. Dramatic improvements all around and it was reassuring as a trainer to see that the homework we’re doing is in the right direction. Thank you to everyone that helped make this weekend possible, and big shout out to for bringing a group of clients to support the clinic!
Y’all know how I feel about that damn indirect inside rein!!! 😆

HHHJ is excited to host the wonderful next weekend, March 2&3! This clinic has sections from beginner (horse and rider) to advanced, so there will be something for everyone! Contact me if you are interested in attending, I have a few open spots left.
Happy everyone! I have been bad about keeping up with my posts, and I will try to do better! This week, I’d like to say big congratulations to Grace Graves on the lease of Forest! We’re excited to have her on board at to watch them grow together this year!
Training horses has its ups and downs, and though it’s easy to post about the progress, it’s harder to talk about the difficulties. But I believe in the process and that we as trainers shouldn’t be ashamed to discuss all aspects of the process. So, with that being said, we’ve been working through some challenges with Forest. He’s been presenting some “behavioral” issues which we think are really a reaction to some discomfort or pain. After lots of trouble shooting, I think we’ve narrowed it down to saddle fit. We had our awesome rep out today, Bronwen Cheney, and I’m feeling good about her assessment and solution. I’m confident we’re on the right track with Forest.
A big part of training and developing horses is to remember to listen to what they are trying to tell you. It can be so frustrating trying to decipher their hints but it is so crucial to their mental and physical well being and their longevity, especially as a performance horse. Short cuts rarely stand the test of time and it’s worth it to try to remain receptive, to be a horseman first and a rider second. It can be tedious and discouraging, but we should keep that aspect as a top priority.
This would be a great clinic to attend! I will look into details

I’m honored to be a part of this experience and to be featured by The Plaid Horse! Thank you for the article and thank you to CHJA, and of course big thank you to Colts Unlimited with Hilary and Charlie ❤️
Isabella has a mustache and it’s the cutest thing ever 😍
Hey clients!! Here is a TENTATIVE schedule of events for this year. Please take a look and start thinking about what you would like to attend.
First show of 2024! Thank you Gold Crest Shows for hosting a nice schooling show, it’s so great to have a chance to get the horses off the property for some practice in the middle of winter! Megan and Ellie competed for their first time together and they learned a lot and showed improvements throughout. They also took the win in their mini medal! Parker and Finn had a good refresher and Parker rode great and had some beautiful rounds. Great job riders!
We got a big tree this year… fair warning! 😆 🎄
😎🎄🏇
Are you ready for a winter schooling show? With feedback from a USEF licensed judge? Come join us at the wonderful, heated Messer arena January 20 & 21! Limited availability. Check out the prize list at GoldCrestShows.com. Right on the homepage! Can’t wait to see you all soon!
Happy all my thoroughbred lovers! Today I couldn’t think of a better one to feature than Danny! He’s been a rock star lately. We’ve been working hard on the flat with getting him more supple and relaxed to allow for more fluidity through connection. Lots of flexions and bending, down transitions, work over poles, bounce rails, etc. He’s really getting the hang of it and it’s showing in his over fences work! His owner/rider is getting it down, too. What a great pair and I’m so proud of them and grateful to be a part of their development!
Big congratulations to Megan on the lease of Ellie! This horse is going to teach her so much and I’m already excited about the growth I’ve seen so far! Great job .evelyn for all of your hard work to make Ellie the horse she is today!
Happy Thanksgiving style! I’m super grateful for all the thoroughbreds in my life! There’s nothing like the heart of a thoroughbred and we have some really great ones in the program. I’m feeling very thankful today for all of my clients, old and new, and all of the horses, thoroughbred and all others! I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

After about five months, my first time back jumping Isabella after having Logan! Such a great feeling! And it was awesome to be able to pick right back up where we left off as far as the height we competed at last year. Thank you to my more advanced students for helping me keep her going over the last few months! #cwdriders #traininghorses #highhorsehuntersjumpers
Happy #thoroughbredthursday everyone! I can’t think of a better feature for this week than Finn, and to highlight him and his owner/rider here is their absolutely beautiful winning hunter classic round at their first rated show a couple of weeks ago at @urbanequineevents ! My happy dance at the in gate says it all, and I literally had tears of pride and joy as she finished the last few jumps. I’m so very proud and grateful to be a part of this horse and rider’s development. There have been a lot of ups and downs along the way, but moments like this make it all worthwhile. Huge congratulations to @par.ker_williams for this just stunning performance. Simply lovely to watch, and I even got teary watching it again in video. ❤️🦄🥇 #thoroughbredhunter #ottbhunter #hunterjumper #hunterjumpersofinstagram #hunterjumpers #cwdriders #vitalizeeq #summitsharpening #horsetraining #highhorsehuntersjumpers
So proud of Isabella this week at @urbanequineevents ! We got to step up to 1.0m and she was a rock star. Huge thank you to @summitsharpening for sponsoring my classes! It’s almost body clipping season, and summit is my hands down go to for keeping my clippers in top form and blades sharp. I highly recommend them for anyone in the horse industry that does body clipping or even just routine clips. Find them at https://www.summitsharp.com Here’s a video of a power and speed round that was generously sponsored by summit sharpening!
Isabella and me in our jumper derby sponsored by Diamond Edge Equine Dental Care. She was so good and it was a super fun course! We had one bummer rail and a couple turns I could have tightened up and we were just barely out of the ribbons, but she was a rock star! Diamond Edge is my go to for all of my client and personal horses’ dental needs. Birgit is patient and thorough and cares about her patients. With her expertise, she has helped me trouble shoot “behavioral” issues in horses that were actually pain responses, and when my old heart horse had some serious issues from a botched tooth extraction, she got him comfortable again in no time. I would not trust anyone more than her with my horses’ dental care, and she also does #bemertherapy on horses and humans! Very highly recommended professional, reach out if you’d like to contact Diamond Edge Equine Dental for your horse’s dental needs! #traininghorses #projecthorse #horsehealth #equinedentalcare #horseshow #horseshowlife @cepshows #highhorsehuntersjumpers
Isabella was such a rockstar today at Copper Penny! Double clear and 2nd in our power and speed and quick and 4th in our speed round! So proud of this little lady and excited for our journey together. Our power and speed round was generously sponsored by Summit Sharpening, my hands down go to guy for upkeep on my clippers and blades. He’s conveniently located in Castle Rock and always has a quick turn around. When clipping season comes around, I can always count on him to keep me in business! Check him out at https://www.summitsharp.com
Prince ready to rock and JUMP this morning 😆🤟He was a rock star in his 2’6”-2’9” open division, placing sixth in both over fences in a large division. Proud of this little dude! What a great week showing Isabella at @coloradohorsepark with coaching from @coltsunlimited ! I’m so happy with how we did showing in the .95s, getting better and more confident together with each round. I’m also super excited to roll out a new sponsorship program! My first investor sponsored my class today, and what a wonderful training round it was! Huge thank you and shout out to Embroidery Equine Style for your support, and for embroidering all of our HHHJ gear. Hats, saddle pads, polo shirts, coolers, jackets, they can do it all! They even helped me with designing my logo. Pamela at Embroidery Equine Style is an absolute pleasure to work with, and is passionate about supporting the equestrian industry. If you need anything embroidered for your business, she’s the one to call! Pamela J. Lafferty👍😊If you are interested in sponsoring a class or a show, reach out to me to coordinate! #jumperhorse #projecthorse #cwdriders #vitalizeeq #horseshowlife #hitair #highhorsehuntersjumpers
I came into today feeling very competitive and confident off of our win on Thursday, but unfortunately, Zoe did not want to play in our speed derby today. She warmed up great, is sound and got plenty of time to recharge, but something made her shut down today. I wish I knew for sure, but after doing some research, I suspect she has a history of needing to be on ulcer treatment. Regardless, I’ve gained so much out of my journey with Zoe, even just over this two week period. I rode one of the best rounds of my life two days ago, and won it, against really solid competition. I’ve had the opportunity to learn from and get closer with some of the best horse people I’ve ever met, and I feel like they’ve become like family to me. I cannot thank Hilary and Charlie Carrel enough at Colts Unlimited for sharing with me their expertise and support. I look forward to continuing to learn from them as I progress through my career. Big thank you to CHJA for pairing me with them for my mentorship scholarship. It has been a life and career changing experience. Thank you to my clients and loved ones who are always so supportive of me and my adventures. And thank you to Zoe. Even though you checked out on me today, you’ve taught me so much about patience, technique, finesse, and together we accomplished big things. Showing at a World Cup show against Olympic riders, helping me get confident at bigger heights, and mostly having a blast doing it. When we are on the same page, we really click. Thank you for the journey, and we’ve improved each other a lot in the process. Here is my winning 1.20 speed round from Thursday. Still riding this high, even after todays disappointment. #underdogshavesuperpowers #highhorsehuntersjumpers #holsteinerhorse #coltsunlimited #cwdriders #hitairvest #vitalizeeq #traininghorses
