Hello and happy Sunday to all my BFD friends and family!!! We woke up to a little surprise this morning… miss Cinder Beans is in heat… I’m considering a litter… but I wanted to reach out to you all first and see if anyone is currently looking for a new furry family member or knows of someone that is in the market. I would love to raise some puppies again but I would need to build up the wait list a bit before feeling comfortable taking that plunge.

I would be breeding her to our own boy Bear, Bear is from our Mavis + Duke litter in 2021. It would be Bears first litter and Cinders second.

Both parents are naturally loving and extremely cuddly with their people, they enjoy playing with their human and canine brothers and sisters but have an “off switch” and can cuddle on the sofa and watch TV as well.

Puppies will experience the same level of interaction and early training/stimulation that you’ve come to expect from the Black Forest Doodles program.

These pups will grow to be standard size, between 50 pounds and 75 pounds in adulthood. They will all be furnished (mustache, beard, etc) with wavy to curly coats. They will need regular coat maintainence, to include brushing (every couple of days) and grooming every 4-6 weeks.

We’re expecting anything from creamy white, brown, brown Merle, black, black Merle, phantom, phantom Merle.. the whole 9 in terms of color. Obviously I can’t guarantee colors but these are all possibilities with this pairing.

WOOHOO!!! Great news! We got our girl Maisy’s hip/elbow and heart results from OFA, we have good ratings on both elbows and heart and a rare EXCELLENT for her hips. One more test with the eye Dr and we will be planning a Maisy + ? Litter for the spring. (Scroll through the photos for her OFA results)
-you may be wondering what kind of coats we can expect from a flat coat like miss Maisy… the answer is ALL FURNISHED WITH WAVY HAIR. Much like Mavis and Margot’s coat types. Maisy won’t have a single pup with a flat coat.
-my plan is to pair her with a male that has excellent hip ratings as well and pennhip scores of .3 or better (breed average is .5 and the lower the number the better the rating) so our puppies should all be set up for success in the joint department
-I’ll likely be on the lookout for a male that is black or patterned so we have some variation in coat colors as well
-we have a few on our wait list but I need more if this breeding is going to happen. If you or someone you know is looking for a well bred doodle let me know.

Everyone meet Sullivan. He is happiness and joy and silliness and love. His favorite toy is an empty Gatorade bottle. We take off the cap, plastic ring and plastic wrapping and let him go to town. He can only have them supervised, and we check it often to see when it’s time to trash it… usually after 15 minutes or so… but look at how completely blissful those 15 minutes are for him. 🥰 I love my dogs.

Puppy families… tomorrow is the day!!!!
Today we go for well check and shots and tomorrow you will get to bring your new baby home! I’ve created the following check list for some items that I feel are very important to have. Puppies just finished dinner, got a fresh potty box, new water…. And the nightly zoomies commence.
Believe it or not they sleep the majority of the day. They’ll probably play like this for about an hour and then nap until 9 ish, zoom for another hour or so and then settle in for the night.
I would highly recommend an x-pen set up for anyone with a new puppy. It doesn’t have to be this big, but it can be attached directly to an open crate, a potty box can be put in, water etc to help with the early days of potty and crate training. Notice they go in and out of the crate as they please, there are soft blankets and toys in there, and they are fed in their crates to create a positive association with it. I did this with all of my own dogs and they all love their crates.
These guys are also learning that jumping up and barking does not equal attention, rather, sitting and making eye contact does.
They also love to “swim” in their water bowl 🤦🏼‍♀️

In case you may be interested in a sneak peek at the puppy cam… nightly zooms and wrestle mania. If you’re on the list for a pup from this litter we’ll be scheduling a time for selection and pick up (on the same day) on the 28th of August. I’ll be sending out messages shortly with a timeframe 😉

Pup-date: These love bugs are now 4 weeks old and have graduated to their big kid collars, are eating soaked kibble twice a day and milk replacement once a day (still trying to nurse but mommas starting to lose interest as those little teeth are coming in.). We will have to expand their living arrangements again soon as well. Potty box training is going well…. They still need some guidance but are coming around to it. Proud of these little nuggets 🥰

Update time: Momma and puppies are doing well! All of our pups are strong and nursing and have doubled their birth weights. We had our first nail trim yesterday and we’ve been doing ENS every day (see our pinned video if you don’t know what that is). Everything is going great for the first week of these littles lives.

We have 6 beautiful babies. 3 boys and 3 girls. Our largest being 12.5 ounces and a teeny tiny baby boy born last and weighing only 6 oz. He is nursing and seems very strong and has good color so I’m optimistic. Ladies and gentlemen I present to you our Broncos litter…. Individual introductions coming soon.

We are like… 95% ready! The whelping area is set up and ready to go with a heating pad and washable incontinence pads for easy change ability and clean-ability, we have our essentials, calcium, puppy support gel, surgical scissors, Vaseline, alcohol prep pads and iodine prep pads, bulb sucker, food and water for momma. Scale is ready with new batteries, puppy blankets and clean/dirty laundry hampers… second heating pad for good measure. Our vets number is on standby just in case. Bring on the puppies!

Did the “egg challenge” with Margot. Supposedly… you give your dog a raw egg and they’ll instinctively be extra gentle with it because it “could contain life.” I call BS on this 🤣 Margot has whelped 2 litters successfully and is the best momma… this lil egg however went from being a novel play thing to a snack in 5 seconds. RIP my area rug. *note, raw eggs CAN cause salmonella in a dog; however, Margot is 90 pounds and has had raw egg before… it can be very nutritious for them in moderation… proceed with caution pet owners 😉

We have puppy confirmation!!!! We’re so excited to announce Cinder was confirmed pregnant at her ultrasound appointment yesterday! Our vet saw at least 6-7 puppies in there. At this early stage it is still possible for that number to change, there could be some hiding and it’s possible for resorption to happen. We will get a better number at the X-ray appointment scheduled for June 28th. 😁 🐶 🐾 ❤️ congratulations little momma!!!!
